The MBTI® Of Love Alarm Characters | ScreenRant
Netflix's Love Alarm is a K-Drama unlike any other. For starters, the 8-episode series is getting a second season to continue where the cliff hanger in season 1 left off. Many K-dramas conclude its story within one season, but seeing as this drama is based on an ongoing webtoon, having multiple seasons makes sense. The drama also features a kiss between the main couple within the first episode, before they're even together. Many fans found this surprising as K-Dramas always seem to prolong the first kiss of any couple. These differences hooked K-Drama fans in quickly as it was utterly unique.
The character dynamics within the show are also wildly complex. It seems like every character either loves or hates each other with no real in between. Everyone feels strongly about one thing or another and each character is fleshed out enough to have their own goals and ambitions rather than just stand idly by. These qualities make it incredibly easy to pick out which characters fall under which Myers-Briggs Type Indicator®.
10 Bae Kyeong-Hui - ISFJ (Defender)
As Hye-Yeong's mom in the series, fans often get to see Kyeong-Hui in a super motherly light, especially when compared to Sun-Oh's mother, Jeong Mi-Mi. Bae Kyeong-Hui is incredibly kind, and just enjoys helping others as much as she can. She enjoys working for Sun-Oh's family and decides that she wants to continue to do so. She is incredibly caring, making her the perfect ISFJ.
Known as the Defender, ISFJ's love helping people they care about, and strive to defend them against harm or pain. When she feels like Hye-Yeong isn't fully living his life, she encourages him to get out there and grasp it, which leads him to confess to Jojo after years of staying silent.
9 Jeong Mi-Mi - ISFP (Adventurer)
Jeong Mi-Mi is a famous actress and mother to Sun-Oh. In typical K-Drama fashion, Mi-Mi becomes an antagonistic mother for the series due to her inability to balance life and work. She constantly makes it apparent that she cares more about her career and status to the public eye than she does about being a mother. Mi-Mi makes for an excellent ISFP. ISFPs are called the Artists and Adventures of the MBTI®.
They are always on the go and ready to explore new areas in their field. Jeong Mi-MI is so focused on her arts and work that she puts it above being a decent mother to Sun-Oh.
8 Yuk-Jo - ESFJ (Consul)
While Yuk-Jo is introduced later on in the series, fans learn a lot about her personality in that short time. Typically in K-Dramas, the romantic competition for the lead male is usually a stuck up or undeserving character that fans are easily able to dismiss, encouraging viewers to root for the main girl (in this case, Jo-Jo). However, in this series, Yuk-Jo (who is Sun-Oh's girlfriend after the time skip) is incredibly kind, loving, and patient.
She cares about Sun-Oh and constantly listens to his woes and comforts him, even to her dismay which is a perfect telling of an ESFJ. She doesn't ring Sun-Oh's love alarm yet she stays optimistic that one day she will.
7 Jang Il-Sik - ESFP (Campaigner)
Jang Il-Sik is Kim Jo-Jo's boyfriend at the start of the series. The two have a rather odd relationship as its pretty easy to tell that Jo-Jo isn't really that into him. Il-Sik also seems to like her but not enough to ring her love alarm in return. He is a pretty friendly and vibrant guy, however, and he's pretty playful. But on the same note, he was also insensitive to Jo-Jo's lifestyle and only wanted to have fun.
These qualities make him a great ESFP. Even when he and Jo-Jo break up, he puts on a grand display of emotion, rather than keeping it private between themselves.
6 Kim Jang-Go - ENTJ (Commander)
While Kim Jang-Go seemed like the perfect best friend for Jo-Jo in episode one, she ultimately becomes one of the biggest snakes of the series. She like Il-Sik pretty much the entire time Jo-Jo dates him. And instead of just telling her friend and figuring it out, she goes behind Jo-Jo's back and sends a picture of Jo-Jo and Sun-Oh kissing to Il-Sik, causing a big break up scene at school.
After, she also scorns Jo-Jo, taking all of their friends with her. These qualities align her with an ENTJ. She is well-liked and followed by her friends, but is not afraid to work for what she wants, no matter who gets in her way.
5 Park Gu-Mi - ESTJ (Executive)
Much like Kim Jang-Go, Park Gu-Mi is an authoritative figure to her friends. She knows what she wants and commands and treats others how she sees fit. She wants to be famous, that is her main goal, but she acts as though she is already above everyone else as well.
Gu-Mi is one of the harshest characters in the series and does a ton of unlikeable and questionable things probably making her the main antagonist of the series. She is constantly awful to Jo-Jo and lashes out whenever Jo-Jo doesn't act in a way she likes. Like an ESTJ, she is always trying to manage people's lives to better her own.
4 Cheong Duk-Go - INFP (Mediator)
Cheong Duk-Gu probably has the biggest heart in the series and always seems to be exactly where he is needed. He is a constant comfort to Jo-Jo who often returns the favor, making these two become fast friends. Duk-Gu and Jo-Jo are on the more sensitive side, they're both scared to open their hearts to hurt but do so anyway. That makes him the perfect INFP.
Unfortunately for Duk-Gu and his large heart, he has a pretty big crush on Gul-Mi who is always utterly and despicably awful to him. A lot is left unknown about Duk-Gu in the first season but based on his character in the webtoon, he is sure to make another appearance in season 2.
3 Lee Hye-Yeong - INFJ (Advocate)
Hye-Yeong just wants to see Jo-Jo happy. Throughout the series, he does a number of subtle things that often go unnoticed to help make her feel happy. He tells Sun-Oh to go for her, even though he has liked her for such a long time, and attempts to aid her while they work together at the barbeque restaurant.
Later in the series, Hye-Yeong realizes that he needs to tell her the truth, so he finally confesses to her and tells her he will do all that he can to make her happy, whether they are together or not. Because of this determination, Hye-Yeong fits the INFJ type perfectly. He is quiet and almost mystical but always seems to put Jo-Jo (and Sun-Oh) before himself.
2 Hwang Sun-Oh - ESFJ (Consul)
Sun-Oh was incredibly hard to place, he fits a number of personality types pretty well, but definitely fits under ESFJ the best. Sun-Oh is incredibly kind and caring to those who matter to him. At least, that's what fans see in the show. But it must be taken into account also that he unabashedly kissed and went after the girl his best friend was into. While he kept asking Hye-Yeong if he liked her, it was super clear to viewers and Sun-Oh what Hye-Yeong's actual feelings were. That all being said, Sun-Oh tries time and time again to make his friends happy, even if he doesn't understand why they are sad/upset.
1 Kim Jo-Jo - INFP (Mediator)
Like Duk-Gu, Jo-Jo fits the INFP personality type perfectly. She is usually eager to help those in need, such as Sun-Oh or Duk-Gu whenever she sees that they are having problems. She's sensitive but enjoys being around those she cares about. Jo-Jo keeps to herself a lot and doesn't like to burden others with her problems, she often is perceived as shy by her classmates but shows an inner flame to those she is close to.
