Netflix's The Baby-Sitters Club: 10 Things Fans Want To See In Season 2
No strangers to adaptations, The Baby-Sitters Club has once again returned to our screens this time in the form of a Netflix series. Inspired by the children's series of the same name written by Ann M. Martin, The Baby-Sitters Club follows a group of middle school girls who create their own babysitting business to earn extra money.
While Netflix has not confirmed a second season for the new series, fans are definitely hopefully. After all, there should be no shortage of content given the over 100 novels written by Martin for the series. While the series does use the novels for most of its plots, it does deviate from time to time. Given this, fans have begun brainstorming new plotlines they hope the series will explore, in addition, to trying to figure out which book is going to serve as the next set of episodes. Here's what we think should happen if The Baby-Sitters Club gets a second season.
10 Mallory And Jessie Helping The Baby-Sitters Club
At the end of season one, The Baby-Sitters Club approaches Mallory and Jessie at camp to invite them to be junior members of the Baby-Sitters club. Fans of the book series definitely expected this move to come considering there are several members of the Baby-Sitters club in the book series but it was a welcome surprise for new viewers.
In the novels, Mallory and Jessie create their own club after Mallory is turned down from helping. We're glad to see the series is welcoming them into the club without conditions.
9 Little Miss Stoneybrook
While the club's primary duty is to take care of the kids they're paid to watch, that doesn't mean they can't also have fun. In the fifteenth book of the series, the club finds itself participating in Stoneybrook's child beauty contest. Fans of this particular book are hopeful that they'll get to see it adapted for the series.
It would definitely be interesting. Who knows, maybe they could work in some kind of reference to TLC's Toddlers and Tiaras. We can totally see Kristy going on a feminist rant about how stupid beauty contests are.
8 Mary Anne Dates Logan
While Mary Anne doesn't meet Logan until book ten, the writing team wasted no time introducing Logan. In fact, they establish that Mary Anne and Logan have a crush on each other almost immediately which we definitely loved. By the end of the first season, Mary Anne and Logan have their first kiss while at camp.
Dating might be hard for Mary Anne given her dad's protectiveness but we can't help but hope that Mary Anne and Logan get to go on a super cute, age-appropriate date in the second season.
7 Kristy Bonds With Her New Family
Kristy may have begun to come around to her mother's marriage and her new family but it's definitely just a start. From what we've seen Watson really is trying to make Kristy feel at home and he genuinely seems to care for her.
Kristy may have complex feelings about her own father, but we hope she learns that she can work through them and learn to appreciate Watson. We also hope to see her bonding with her new siblings more, especially Karen who totally stole the show in the final two episodes.
6 Bailey To Make Another Appearance
While we understand that the club needs to babysit different kids from time to time, fans of the series are really hoping that we get to see Bailey again in the second season. In case you forgot, Bailey is the child Mary Anne bonds with that causes a rift in the club.
Fans love that Bailey allowed the show to showcase a young transgender character that hasn't typically been done in the media before. They also loved how Mary Anne defined Bailey's gender identity when she took her to the hospital. We'd love to see Bailey again, perhaps even with one of the other club members this time.
5 A Holiday Special
Sure, fans got a wedding episode during the first season but even a wedding can't compete with the warm and fuzzy feeling holiday-themed episodes can provide. Luckily, the book series has a few holiday-themed books the writers can turn to for inspiration.
We'd love to see the Club host a Thanksgiving dinner for its members or participate in a gift-exchange during the Christmas season. A holiday special would also allow the writers to show us what the girl's families are like more too.
4 Dawn And Mary Anne Become Step-Sisters
Kristy's mom may have gotten all the wedding love during the first season but fans can't help but hope that there is another wedding on the horizon. While Richard and Sharon may have gotten off to a rocky start, by the end of the series it's clear that they're willing to give each their love a chance...again.
While fans would love to see another wedding, what really excites them is the chance of seeing Dawn and Mary Anne became step-sisters. They're already best friends but being sisters would take their relationship to a whole other level.
3 More Episodes That Tackle Real Problems
One of the reasons The Baby-Sitters Club is and has been so appealing is its ability to comment on real-world issues and problems. In the first season alone, the series managed to explore Stacey's diabetes, talk about Mimi's time in an internment camp during World War 2, explore Kristy's feminist side, provide transgender representation, and showed Dawn take over the camp to make sure things everyone could have the same experiences.
Going forward, fans would love to see the show continue to diversity and push the boundaries. One topic in particular that they hope the show tackles are racial issues, especially now that the group is more racially diverse.
2 A Mystery Episode
In addition to the original series of novels, The Baby-Sitters Club book series also included a series of mystery books. From missing items to mysterious messages and haunted houses, the mystery series forced the girls to channel their inner Nancy Drew to solve their problems.
Fans of the books are hopeful that the series will explore at least one of the 36 possible mystery storylines out there. It would make for a great Halloween special!
1 The Baby-Sitters Club Visits New York
While Stacey is definitely anti-New York at the beginning of the season, we see her grow to miss and appreciate her hometown as the series progresses. While New York might have some negative memories for Stacey, it's also apart of her story.
We'd love to see an episode where Stacey gets to return to New York with the rest of the club. Just imagine the fun they would have exploring the Big Apple. Who knows, maybe they could even find some business out there too!
