This 1960s war drama won a BAFTA, and stars Michael Caine, Trevor Howard, and Harry Andrews. It had a small release and a small budget, but it's been critically-acclaimed by all who have actually seen it.
Following the British Royal Air Force in a battle against the Luftwaffe, this movie is riveting tale of keeping the English Channel. It isn't the best cinematography, but that just makes it's reception for incredible for a B-movie.

This movie was also produced in the Soviet Union, and might just be the most widely acclaimed and accepted on this list. While it still had a small budget and release, it's scored 8.3/10 on IMDb.
A young boy joins the Soviet resistance against the German forces, and comes face to face with all the horrors of the war. This movie described as hallucinatory, enthralling each viewer with incredible shots and a devastating story. For a B-movie, this might just be one of the best war movies out there.
