Game 8: Reds at Tigers (12:10 PM ET [rain delay]), DeSclafani vs. Garcia

If the rain ever permits, they’ll play a pair of shortened contests today.

As if the pandemic and team outbreaks everywhere hadn’t already thrown a big-enough wrench into the MLB season, rain has also begun to wreck the schedule, too. The Cincinnati Reds had their series finale against the Chicago Cubs banged a few days ago, and after efforts to move the start time up earlier yesterday due to pending inclement weather, their game against the Detroit Tigers got banged, too.

That prompted the schedule of a doubleheader today, Sunday, that will feature a pair of 7 inning contests. Of course, that’s only if the rain backs off once more, as the Reds announced a few minutes ago that it’s going to delay the start of action today, too.

Pair that with the earlier news that Joey Votto is sidelined with COVID symptoms, and it’s truly been a crap sandwich for Reds baseball so far this year.

Anyhoo, if they do get this thing up and running at some point today, these are the lineups for the first game, including Josh VanMeter in at 1B in Joey’s stead. Anthony DeSclafani has been activated, and will make his season debut (if the rain ever stops).
