Blake And Miranda: Legal ‘Shenanigans’ Involved In Divorce Case?
The divorce was filed in Oklahoma and nearly all the related documents were sealed - a move that some attorneys are questioning. The Oklahoman newspaper reported that a state law requires a judge to only seal divorce records if a “compelling privacy interest outweighs the public’s interest in the records” and under the law, the judge must make any sealing orders public.
And that’s where things get a little complicated, because Blake and Miranda’s sealing order wasn’t made public. The law’s author, attorney and former state Rep. Aaron Stiles, told the paper he wrote the law because he saw judges protecting their friends by sealing divorce records. “There’s some shenanigans going on,” Rep. Stiles said about the country duo’s case.
Sealed or not, the divorce is final and the two are moving forward. Blake’s been spotted on the set of The Voice, which is taping it’s 9th season and played a show in Wisconsin this weekend. Miranda, meanwhile, announced this week that she has started a scholarship for women pursuing the music industry at Belmont University called the Miranda Lambert Women Creators Fund. It’s expected to raise more than $40,000 in its initial year.
