Thor & Hulk Take Break From Filming In New Avengers: Endgame BTS Images
Avengers: Endgame BTS images feature Chris Hemsworth and Bruce Banner in their Thor and Hulk costumes in-between takes. It's been more than a year since the Joe and Anthony Russo-directed Marvel movie hit theaters, but with Phase 4 projects on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic, fans are revisiting the blockbuster, as well as other entries in the MCU. To keep people's interest going, new details and content about it continue to come out with the latest one some goofy set photos.
On the heels of their loss to Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, the remaining MCU heroes went on their own ways for five years until they re-assembled after the idea of the time heist came up thanks to Scott Lang/Ant-Man in Endgame. With their Avengers HQ located in upstate New York ready for years, the Avengers and their other surviving allies found a way to make the concept work, which meant a lot of brainstorming and tech tinkering. The bigger command post was really the first time it was shown being used by the team on-screen, and with fun details such as the massive Avengers logo, the actors couldn't help but goof around a little - including Hemsworth and Ruffalo.
There are three Endgame BTS photos shared by the official Instagram account of Disney+ featuring Robert Downey Jr, Hemsworth, and Ruffalo. Downey's image was already previously rolled-out, but the rest are never-before-seen snaps from the set of the blockbuster. Check out all images below.
What's interesting in Hemsworth and Ruffalo's images is that Thor and Hulk were the heroes who were transformed physically in the five-year time-jump in Endgame. The God of Thunder packed more weight due to his depression after his heartbreaking failure to stop Thanos, while the green rage monster became more polished - in both appearance and manners. That said, only Hemsworth looked the part in these images because Hulk's character design was done post-production via CGI. This is why Ruffalo's wearing his signature VFX tights. Nonetheless, it's nice seeing the actors on their downtime while filming Endgame - especially when it's the original six heroes who were together in the first Avengers film back in 2012.
Following Avengers: Endgame, only Thor and Smart Hulk, and Hawkeye are the only remaining founding MCU heroes in the franchise after Iron Man, Captain America and Black Widow either retired from superhero duties or died. It will take a while for the last three to come together again for another ensemble flick as Phase 4 is focused more on setting-up new heroes and continuing the adventures of existing ones. For Thor, he'll return on the big screen via Taika Waititi's Thor: Love & Thunder, while Hulk could appear in the upcoming She-Hulk series on Disney+.
