India has retained the rights to host the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup, the news was confirmed as per a report on PTI and Australia will host the T20 World Cup in 2022. The decisions were taken by the ICC Business Corporation which met virtually on Friday amid the pandemic. The ICC is also set to postpone the 2021 ICC Women’s ODI World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in New Zealand in February-March next year.

Earlier this year, ICC had canceled the 2020 World T20 slated to be held in Australia, due to the rising concern in coronavirus cases in Melbourne.

The marquee event will be held in India during October-November and the final will take place on 15. Meanwhile, Australia, who was originally slated to hold the tournament in 2020, will now be the host for the 2022 edition between October and November with the final on November 13.

In the upcoming year, there will also be no ICC event in the men’s and women’s division. The women’s T20 World Cup played in Australia earlier this year remains to be only ICC event played in 2020, where the hosts beat India in a mouthwatering final at the MCG.

India will also the 50-over World Cup in 2023. In 2011, India co-hosted the event along with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

No confirmation was received on the future of the ICC Test Championship. As per the schedule, it is supposed to end in June 2021, but it seems like that will also get postponed.
