Where Can You Watch The Twilight Series And Is It On Netflix, Hulu Or Prime?
Where can the Twilight franchise be found online and are they available on Netflix, Hulu or Amazon Prime? While vampires had been portrayed as romantic figures before, going all the way back to Bram Stoker's Dracula, author Stephenie Meyer offered a very different spin on the creatures with Twilight. The first novel focuses on Bella, a teenage loner who follows for fellow loner Edward in her new school. As they grow closer she soon realizes he and his family are actually vampires, though they don't drink human blood and sparkle in the daylight. The novel may not have received the warmest reviews but it was a young adult best-seller and Meyer penned several sequels that focused on a love triangle between Edward, Bella and werewolf Jacob.
Director Catherine Hardwicke helmed the first movie adaptation, with Twilight casting Kristen Stewart as Bella and Robert Pattinson as Edward. It launched the careers of both actors and became a blockbuster back in 2008. The stars returned for the sequels, with the franchise coming to a close with 2012's The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2. Like the novels, the movies were never critical darlings but they drew an adorable fanbase worldwide who still love it to this day.
For those who want to relive the entire Twilight Saga the movies are easy to track down online. All five movies are currently streaming on Amazon Prime, in addition to DirecTV and Freeform, in the U.S. Outside of streaming platforms every entry - from the first movie to Twilight: New Moon and the franchise's two-part finale - are available to rent or purchase from iTunes, Google Play, YouTube, Vudu and other outlets from prices typically starting from $3.99.
Stephenie Meyer's long-delayed Midnight Sun, which retells the story of the original Twilight novel from Edward's perspective, will finally arrive in 2020, which has led to renewed interest in the movie franchise. If it does happen it will likely be fronted by new lead actors, since it's extremely unlikely either Pattinson or Stewart will return.
While both stars are hugely thankful for the impact The Twilight Saga had on their careers, they've moved on to other projects. There's also the issue of Bella and Edward both being ageless vampires, so outside of digitally de-aging a new film - especially one set at the same time as the first movie - would be difficult to pull off. A more likely outcome is Midnight Sun could become the basis for a reboot of the Twilight series on the big screen, though there doesn't currently appear to be any plans for a new movie.
