Love, Victor Renewed for Season 2 At Hulu | Screen Rant
Love, Victor, the Hulu series set in the same universe as the 2018 film Love, Simon, will be getting a season 2. Season 1 of the show was released on Hulu in June of 2020 and quickly became a fan favorite. In fact, it was the most-watched drama on the streaming service during its first week. Much like Love, Simon and the novel that inspired the movie, 2015's Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, the series follows a teenage boy grappling with his sexual orientation. Victor, the half Puerto Rican, half-Colombian-American protagonist, lives in Atlanta and attends the same high school as Simon.
After hearing about Simon's coming out — as well as developing a crush on a male friend — Victor reaches out to Simon via social media to get some advice. Most of season one sees Victor questioning his sexuality, leading up to him coming out to a few friends in the finale. When season 1 ended, fans were left on a cliffhanger. Luckily, a season 2 will be coming, reports Deadline.
So far, there's no information on what storylines season two of Love, Victor might cover, but it's safe to say Victor will continue to explore his sexuality, now with the help of his friends and confidantes. After season 1 was released, co-creator Isaac Aptaker shared plans to continue examining Victor's relationship with his religious and somewhat conservative family — especially now that he has come out to his parents. Originally, the show was intended for Disney+ but was moved to Hulu due to it dealing with more "adult themes." This move was just one part of a bigger censorship issue within the Disney+ streaming service, but will definitely allow for Love, Victor's subject matter to grow with its audience.
Unfortunately, fans will likely need to wait quite a long time before season 2 is released. With the coronavirus pandemic still wreaking havoc in the U.S., production on Love, Victor season 2 may not start until 2021. As of now, there are no confirmed dates for season 2's filming or release, but viewers are likely keeping their fingers crossed for a speedy comeback.
