San Jose: Motorcyclist killed in crash with big rig identified

SAN JOSE – A motorcyclist killed in a crash with a tractor-trailer in San Jose on Aug. 2 has been identified as Benjie Gomez, 47, of San Jose, according to the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.

The crash was reported on southbound Interstate 880 just north of Highway 101 about 6 p.m.

The CHP said Gomez’s 2008 Harley-Davidson collided with a 2019 Freightliner Cascadia. The driver of the tractor-trailer, identified as a 28-year-old Dos Palos man, was not injured.

Gomez was taken to the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, where he was later pronounced dead.
