San Leandro: CHP officer injured in crash on I-880

SAN LEANDRO – A California Highway Patrol officer was injured in a crash on Interstate 880 in San Leandro on Friday, authorities said.

The crash was reported in southbound lanes south of Marina Boulevard just before 4 p.m., the CHP said in a news release.

The CHP said the officer’s injuries were not considered life-threatening. He was taken to a hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.

Additional details about the crash were not immediately available.

“This is an active incident and updates will be provided as more information becomes available,” the CHP said.

As a result of the crash, all southbound lanes of I-880 were closed until about 7 p.m.
