San Mateo: Motorcyclist killed in head-on crash

SAN MATEO – A motorcyclist was killed in a head-on crash in San Mateo early Friday, authorities said.

The collision was reported at El Camino Real and 12th Avenue at 6:30 a.m., said San Mateo police spokesman Michael Haobsh. Officers arrived minutes later and found the motorcyclist with no pulse.

Haobsh said an initial investigation revealed that the motorcyclist was traveling southbound on El Camino and drove head-on into a sport utility vehicle traveling northbound.

“All other details are unknown and still being investigated,” Haobsh said. “Our hearts go out to all involved with this tragedy.”

The San Mateo County Coroner’s Office will release the motorcyclist’s name once it has been confirmed and their next of kin is notified.
