ig Brother 22: What Alliances Were Revealed During the First Night of Live Feeds?
Season 22 of Big Brother is off and running and these All-Stars are not wasting any time making alliances. Thanks to the live feeds fans get a front row seat and a normally unseen first night in the house.
The design of the game of Big Brother lends itself to being adapted for filming during a pandemic more than most reality TV shows. With houseguests already under lockdown, the only difference with this season involved a lot of testing to establish a safe bubble as they entered the house. Sadly unexpected results caused some last-minute changes to casting. However, a little over two weeks ago the final lineup entered quarantine to prepare to enter the Big Brother house. Wednesday night, given the final all-clear the cast was announced during the first live episode of the season.
The first episode was filled with competitions and moving in and there wasn't a lot of time for gameplay talk. However, fans were ready and waiting for the live feeds and in just a few short hours the first night, they gave some juicy insight into who may be playing the game together. Despite lots of rumored pregame alliances, the shuffling of cast members last-minute left many players with no plan, either because their potential ally never made it into the house or they were called to be on the show without enough notice to make alliances. This left some people scrambling to establish then right away. We saw a lot of potential alliances, evidence of cast members who were friendly outside of the show, but only a few who actually discussed working together, on camera.
Arguably the worst kept secret was Janelle and Kaysar. Despite having been close on a previous season, they believed they would be able to keep the fact that they were working together this season secret. They even discussed that they shouldn't be seen together talking. It just seemed many houseguests had already correctly assumed they would be working together. While on the topic of doing a bad job at hiding an alliance we had two other pairs caught in the storage room in the act of making plans to work together. All the coaching by Nicole F. on what to do if someone walks in, went right out the window when she and Ian were busted. As the two winners in the house, they decided they needed to work together with Nicole citing Ian's own win over arguably one of the best players to play Big Brother. It is believed that no one wanted to give the money to someone who had already won.
The alliance that both seemed the most surprising and has the most immediate impact is that between Tyler and Cody. Cody having won the first HOH is the only one with the power to keep Tyler safe. With Kaycee and Josh not being on the season as many had expected, fans and cast alike were speculating that Tyler's pre-game strategy had gone out the window and he appeared to be a bit lost. Cody however approached Tyler asking if he was ready to "run through" the house. The problem was Kaysar walked in at this precise moment. Quick on his feet, Tyler responded saying yes he was ready to "run through" the food he was looking at. While it is unclear whether Kaysar heard the comment or not he definitely is too smart not to suspect something.
There were other houseguests who seemed to be quite friendly like Dani and Nicole F. There are other people fans speculate could be working together due to outside connections like Cody with Bayleigh and Da'Vonne, who are MTV's The Challenge alumni like his brother Paulie. It seems that Bayleigh and Tyler have squashed previous beef from their season and are genuinely good. Cody and Nicole F seem to have done the same. It is far to early to see which of these early seeds sprout into full-fledged Big Brother alliances, but it is clear the game has started and it's going to move quickly.
Big Brother 22 airs Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at 8pm EST on CBS.
