Spider-Man 3 Is Too Early To Introduce The MCU's Sinister Six
The Sinister Six shouldn't be introduced in Sony and Marvel Studios' Spider-Man 3. Spider-Man is now part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe thanks to the deal between Sony and Marvel, and the two studios are working towards finishing Tom Holland's trilogy. The MCU's approach so far has been to introduce new characters and concepts instead of retreading what Sony's previous Spider-Man movies did. This has left fans wondering when the Sinister Six will appear.
Sony has long had an interest in bringing the Sinister Six to the big screen and uniting some of Spider-Man's biggest foes. Due to the MCU and Sony's independent shared universe that began with Venom, there has been plenty of rumors and speculation about the supervillain team's movie future. Many have called for the Sinister Six to be the main villains of Spider-Man: Far From Home's sequel or at least make a cameo. However, it is way too early for the Sinister Six to appear in Spider-Man 3.
In order for the Sinister Six to form, the roster of Spider-Man villains needs to be assembled, and Sony is still missing a piece or two most likely. Spider-Man has already faced potential Sinister Six members such as Vulture, Scorpion, and Mysterio (if he's still alive), while Sony has introduced Venom and will do the same for Morbius soon. But, all of these characters being part of the team would leave one empty spot, and only pre-established characters like Shocker or Prowler could be candidates to join. There is still room for another major villain or two, and characters like Doc Ock, Sandman, or Kraven the Hunter could appear in Spider-Man 3 before joining the Sinister Six.
The sudden formation of the Sinister Six would also mean some members of the team lack a connection to Spider-Man. One of the charms of Spider-Man fighting the Sinister Six is the history he has with each of them. So far, Venom and Morbius have yet to interact with the wall-crawler, and it's unknown if Venom 2 or Morbius will change that with Spider-Man cameos. If all of the villains don't have a history with Spidey, then it won't be as rewarding for viewers to see Peter face his past foes. Should Sony wait a bit longer to bring the Sinister Six to the screen, this problem can be avoided potentially.
If Spider-Man 3 is too early for the Sinister Six, then when can Sony bring the villain team together? Their ability to assemble the Sinister Six could depend on the strategy they take with the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters and the future of Holland's Spider-Man. He could face the Sinister Six in a fourth solo movie perhaps. Sony could also make Sinister Six an event crossover film that unites their various villains against a common enemy, the studio's prized billion-dollar superhero. It's no secret that Sony is interested in using the Sinister Six, so it'll only be a matter of time before they arrive; it just shouldn't be in Spider-Man 3.
