CHIEF test pilot Jack Wadell opened the throttles and the four roaring Pratt & Whitney JT9D engines unleashed a combined 174,000lbs of thrust. The mighty plane, serial number RA001, hurtled down the runway and soared into the skies over western Washington State, USA.
