Selling Sunset Season 3: Mary Fitzgerald Opens Up About Heart-Breaking Miscarriage
In Selling Sunset’s new season, Mary Fitzgerald reveals a heartbreaking moment from her past. Before she was a reality TV star and before she met her now-husband, Romain Bonnet, Mary suffered a miscarriage. She opens up about the tragedy to Chrishell Stause at the beginning of the season.
Selling Sunset’s new season is filled with ups and downs when it comes to The Oppenheim Group’s boss ladies. While most of the season revolves around Chrishell Stause and her unexpected divorce from her husband of two years, This is Us star Justin Hartley, the show does dive into the personal lives of the other cast members, such as Mary Fitzgerald. A big plotline for Mary in season three is fertility and whether or not she should freeze her eggs. In previous seasons, fans got to see Mary finally tie the knot with her long-time boyfriend, Romain Bonnet. But their relationship definitely has its hardships. The two have a big age gap, with Mary almost 12 years older than Romain. So, as the two tackle newly married life, the show also highlights Mary’s concerns about fertility.
In the third episode of season three, Chrishell Stause and Mary Fitzgerald meet up at a French-inspired cafe in downtown Los Angeles to have lunch. While they cheers what looks to be a glass of bubbly rose and order a delicious burrata salad, the two also get to chit-chatting about being married. Stause at this time appears to still be head over heels about her now ex-husband. For her part, Mary opens up about buying a home with Romain, her marriage, and the timeline for when she wants kids. She tells Chrishell that she has made an appointment with a fertility clinic “to see if [she] needs to rush freezing [her] eggs or if [she has] some time.” She later says that she hasn’t told Romain and is nervous to bring it up with him. She then reveals that when she was married before, she got pregnant with twins, but she sadly suffered a miscarriage. “It ended up basically changing our relationship," Mary said before explaining to Chrishell that it was a very intense emotional experience she doesn't want to go through again.
Throughout the conversation, Chrishell is there to help calm Mary’s worries. The two actually share a heartfelt conversation, minus Stause’s silly analogy of skinning a cat. After the lunch, the two co-stars appear closer than ever.
While this is the first time Mary has spoken about her miscarriage, it isn’t the first we’ve heard her talk about freezing her eggs. Back in June. she told outlets that she and Romain were looking into that option so that they could start a family on their terms.
