Othercide: How to Unlock The Scythedancer Class | Screen Rant
Othercide is a sci-fi strategy game by the Lightbulb Crew that encourages players to make tough decisions regarding their army: Who will drag the rest of the team to victory, and who will die for the team to reach that point? Players will be able to pick their team members, their skills, and their classes and use them to complete difficult missions and defeat intimidating monsters.
The Red Mother’s Daughters in Othercide are the only thing standing between humanity and the Suffering. Daughters can equip new skills, abilities, and items to become stronger. Players can also sacrifice Daughters to make their more proficient daughters stronger, and resurrect Daughters that have been sacrificed or that have fallen in battle.
Each class in Othercide has special abilities that help them make an impact in the game. Players can choose to recruit Daughters from three classes at the start of the game: Blademaster, Shieldbearer, and Soulslinger. Blademasters focus on close-range combat, Shieldbearers focus on defensive action and can execute crowd-control tactics, and Soulslingers can perform long-range attacks. There is a fourth class, Scythedancer, that can only be unlocked halfway through the game. The game keeps this a secret up until this point.
Scythedancers have special abilities and give the army the ability to penetrate enemy armor, a role that is crucial to the Daughters’ progress. Many skills that are recommended to be selected for new Scythedancers are Reaping, Deadly Dance, Dance of Binding, and The Harvesting. These skills can be chosen at Level 1, 5, 10, and 15, respectively. Reaping can be used to rip through enemy armor and will hit multiple times, Deadly Dance will allow her to steal armor from enemies, Dance of Binding will interrupt enemies’ actions and deal damage, and The Harvesting will damage all of the enemies on the map when used.
These skills can also be combined with memory mods to make the biggest impact in Mother’s Army. Armor-reducing memories and mods that affect initiative, mobility, and damage work best with Scythedancers and their playstyle. Keep in mind that resurrected Daughters will retain their skills and abilities, but not their memories or mods.
Scythedancers can join the player’s army in Othercide’s third chapter, The Broken Beauty Era, when The Maid is being battled, about halfway through the battle. Players do not need to beat The Maid to access the Scythedancers in battles from this point on, they just need to access the Scythedancer by reaching that part of the battle. Players won’t have a lot of time to adjust to this character once she is introduced, so it’s important for them to understand what they’re getting into.
Scythedancers will be able to be selected as new Daughters in following recollections and restarts. The starting Scythedancer character will join already at level 10 and with pre-selected abilities. When new Scythedancer Daughters are recruited in the Inner Void, their skills and abilities can be specified at that point.
