Man killed, teen wounded in Oakland shootings
OAKLAND — A 43-year-old man was fatally shot and a 14-year-old boy was wounded in a drive-by attack in separate shootings Friday night in East Oakland, authorities said.
Neither victim’s name has been released.
The shootings do not appear to be related, authorities said.
The fatal shooting happened about 11:51 p.m. Friday in the 1500 block of 92nd Avenue.
Officers responding to a ShotSpotter alert found the 43-year-old man dead in the street from gunshot wounds.
A vehicle had also been hit by gunfire but no other injuries were reported.
Police said the dead man was an Oakland resident, but have not said if he lived in the area of the shooting. No motive has been released yet and no arrests have been made.
The killing is the 53rd homicide investigated by Oakland police this year. Last year at this time police had investigated 49 homicides in the city.
The teenager was shot about 8:57 p.m. Friday in the 6800 block of Hawley Street.
Authorities said he was in the doorway of a residence when a vehicle drove by and someone inside began shooting toward him, wounding him in the leg. He was taken to a hospital but his condition was not available.
Police have not said if the youth lived at the residence. A motive for the shooting has not been released yet and no arrests have been made.
