Michael Ojo Passes
A beloved big man passes away
We were terribly sad to see that former Florida State big man Michael Ojo had died.
Like most people we just knew him through basketball where he was average at best, but that’s not how you judge people. As we’ve said before, we only see athletes in two-hour stints and we didn’t know a lot about Ojo off the court.
He struck us as a good and likable man though, something backed up by what people in Tallahassee had to say about him.
One of his professors said this: “Michael Ojo. Rest in Peace my good friend. You brought joy to all of us in the Seminole family. Thank you for your great work in my class and on the court. Thank you for being so good to your fellow classmates. This one has knocked the wind out of me, friends.”
Leonard Hamilton said this: “In all of my years of coaching, I’ve never been around a person who captivated the emotions of everybody he came into contact with like Michael. He had to be the most popular person in Tallahassee, and, certainly at Florida State University. Michael Ojo was a wonderful, wonderful human being. He was a great teammate and really represented what the Seminole spirit is all about. He was one of the purest Seminoles that I have ever been around; he will be missed tremendously by the whole Seminole nation.”
Read through the rest of the comments in this story and that will become quite clear. People really loved the guy.
