Indian Matchmaking: Fan Claims To Have Matched With Akshay on Tinder
When news of Indian Matchmaking’s Akshay Jakhete calling off his arranged marriage with Radhika was revealed, many fans heaved a sigh of relief. The dating reality show’s viewers were somehow happy that the girl wouldn’t have to deal with Akshay’s mother Preeti, who had soon replaced Aparna has the “villain” of the show. But a rumor of Akshay being on dating apps is now doing the rounds and Indian Matchmaking fans are wondering if it makes Preeti’s BP go high.
When Akshay Jakhete was introduced on Indian Matchmaking, the self-proclaimed shy boy who’d never dated before seemed like he was getting forced into a marriage. The 25-year-old confessed to having never been in a relationship before but his “ticking clock” was acting like a time-bomb for his mother Preeti. In walked Mumbai’s top matchmaker Sima Taparia to save the day and Akshay’s mom entrusted her with the responsibility to find him a “flexible” girl. The Mumbai boy seemed to be confused about what he was looking for but when asked what his ideal girl would be like, he could only answer, “someone like my mom.” Taparia tried her best but Akshay rejected over 70-80 girls putting the matchmaker to a trivial test. Akshay finally liked a girl Radhika Somani and the two even got into a pre-engagement or roka ceremony with Preeti’s blessings. Indian Matchmaking fans thought that this was the girl who would inherit all the jewelry under Preeti’s bed, but Akshay confirmed that he’d called things off right after the Netflix show aired.
“We couldn't even hold a conversation together for more than five minutes," revealed Akshay when asked about his failed match with Radhika. It barely took the momma’s boy a day to fail Taparia’s efforts as he said, “I'm not doing this.” The stars might have not aligned for Akshay on Indian Matchmaking but the introvert seemed to be preferring Tinder over Taparia to find himself a partner. According to a tweet by user Shine Attavar, Akshay was using the dating app a year ago. Wasn’t Indian Matchmaking also in production back then? Hmmm.
The user wrote, “Guys I just realized that I had matched w Akshay from #indianmatchmaking on Tinder last year,” as she shared screenshots from the reality TV celeb’s profile. She explained how she came across his Instagram after watching the show and on seeing a post had a moment of déjà vu. “I was like wait a minute... this is so funny this is too much...” wrote the Indian Matchmaking viewer who also jokingly added, “too bad I’m not his mom,” at the end of her tweet.
Akshay had turned defensive when asked about the memes on his mother doing the rounds. The Indian Matchmaking star had said that he didn’t understand why he was getting the backlash and that it was his mother Preeti’s qualities that he was looking for in his partner. Currently, Akshay has been making the best use of his social media stardom by posting shirtless selfies. Assuming after his Indian Matchmaking stint, the very single Akshay won’t be needing dating apps with fans sliding into his DMs, it looks like his ticking clock has temporarily slowed down. But if he still is on Tinder, does mother Preeti supervise the swipes and super likes?
