Dejan Lovren Gets Zenit Career Off To Trophy-Winning Start
The ex-Liverpool defender played a big role in helping his new side win the Russian Super Cup. Dejan Lovren is enjoying his post-Liverpool life.
The long-serving Reds defender has won a trophy with his new team less than a fortnight after bidding Anfield adieu, winning the Russian Super Cup with Zenit St. Petersburg. Goals from Artem Dzyuba and Magomed Ozdoyev were enough as Lovren played the full 90 minutes to help his new side weather a late onslaught, including a goal from ex-Tottenham defender Verdan Corluka, to win the first competition of the Russian 2020-21 season.
It became the Croatian international’s 2nd trophy lift in the span of a month following the Premier League title win with Liverpool.
