‘Enteng’ intensifies as it moves out
TROPICAL Storm Enteng (international name: Jangmi) continues to bring rains enhanced by another low pressure area and the southwest monsoon, the weather bureau said on Sunday.
‘Enteng’ is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) Sunday night.
In its 11 a.m. severe weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Enteng’s center or eye was located 540 kilometers northeast of Basco, Batanes. It had maximum sustained winds of up to 75 km per hour and gustiness of up to 90 km/hr.
The tropical storm is moving northward at 45 km per hour toward the southern Ryukyu Islands in Japan, according to weather specialist Chris Perez.
Meanwhile, the LPA, which was located at 210 km west of Iba, Zambales, is not likely to intensify into a tropical depression in the next 24 hours, he said.
The weather agency said Pangasinan, Benguet, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Central Luzon, Metro Manila, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon), Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, the Bicol Region, and Western Visayas will continue to be pelted with rain in the next 24 hours.
It warned residents of possible floods and landslides.
