Fans return to Tokyo tomorrow! Weigh in results for GENKOTSU Vol 7

0
Tomorrow at the Arena Tachikawa Tachihi we'll see something we've not seen since February. Fans in attendance for a show in the Japanese capital. It's certainly not a big show, with just 6 bouts in total, but it is an important one as we continue to slowly move towards a full resumption of boxing in Japan.

A mentioned the card ins't a big, at all, though it does have two bouts worthy of note.

The first one of those with see JBC #18 ranked Lightweight Shinnosuke Saito (6-3, 2)[齋藤 眞之助] in action against active police officer Yuji Hashimoto (6-4, 4) [橋本 祐二], in a 6 rounder.

Coming in to this Saito has won his last 3, including a triumph against Kensuke Fujita last December in the All Japan Rookie of the Year final. He's unbeaten since September 2018 and will be looking to move one step further to a title fight here. On the scales he was 133.6lbs, comfortably under the Lightweight limit.

Hashimoto on the other hand is returning to the ring more than 13 years after his last bout. He was last seen int he ring in November 2006, when he beat a limited Thai visitor, and since then he has worked for a private company being joining the police at the age of 28. He has recently decided to return to boxing, at the age of 35, to see how far he can go. On the scales Hashimoto was 134.5lbs.

The second bout of note will see JBC #3 ranked Minimumweight Hizuki Saso (12-6-1, 4) [佐宗 緋月] battle against Yuni Takada (8-5-1, 3) [高田 勇仁] in a bout scheduled for 8 rounds.

The 25 year old Saso has won his last 2, since suffering a loss to Rikito Shiba in April 2018, and is edging his way towards a Japanese Minimumweight title fight. A win here probably wouldn't prepare him for a shot at the top, but would be the new step towards a bout at that level. Takada on the other hand has lost 2 of his last 3 and is looking to get his career back on track.

On the scales Saso was 104.5lbs whilst Takada was around 103.8lbs.
