A woman has died after a crash between a jet ski and a boat on a difficult day for first responders across the UK.

The emergency services were called to the area near Menai Bridge, North Wales, at about 7.30pm on Saturday.

A spokesman for North Wales Police said: ‘Officers received a call from the Welsh Ambulance NHS Trust at 19.29hrs yesterday.

‘One female casualty was transferred to hospital following the incident but has sadly since passed away.’

Officers appealed for any witnesses to the incident to contact North Wales Police on 101 quoting reference number Y114906.

Coastguards and the emergency services have been practically non-stop in recent days as a heatwave has swept across the country.

An air ambulance was forced to land metres from Southend seafront on Saturday after a young child got swept 300 metres from shore in a dinghy.

The child was tethered to a fishing vessel and, when they were brought to shore, they were found to be suffering from hypothermia, sea-water ingestion and shock. The child was then rushed to hospital.

Police fear the combination of high temperatures and thousands of people flocking to the nation’s beaches will spark a spate of incidents.

The mercury hit 34.5C in Frittenden, Kent, yesterday and it’s expected to reach 35C today.
