At the 2020 AGM, Vice Chair Phil Stubley outlined the process of returning Leeds Hockey Club to the pitch.
England Hockey guidance allows for clubs to offer small groups and 1:1 coaching whist maintaining social distancing.
LHC cannot offer this right now as Sports Park Weetwood is close. We also want to be able offer better to our members.
Whilst we do not yet have a date to return to Sports Park Weetwood, we are working with Sports Park Weetwood and the University of Leeds to draft the appropriate risk assessments to allow us to return to the pitch.
LHC is also currently planning for the season to start in September as it normally would as instructed by the leagues and we will monitor any changes to the start of the season.

Leeds Hockey Club (LHC) is aware of the latest guidance published by England Hockey on 21 May 2020 and the fact they will be reviewing their latest guidance in light of this evening’s announcement from the UK Government.
LHC is regularly in contact with our facility partners at Sports Park Weetwood and will work with them once the facility reopens to allow for our members to get back onto the pitch in the safest possible way.
Some staff at Sports Park Weetwood have been furloughed in line with UK Government Guidance and the University of Leeds are reviewing their staffing needs on a regular basis. Until Sports Park Weetwood reopens LHC cannot operate at the facility.
LHC will communicate any formal change in our operations via e-mail and the usual communication channels.

Instead of the traditional handshake at the start and end of the game, we are encouraging players to tap sticks like this. A warm smile and thanks of appreciation to officials may be more appropriate at this current time.
All players and officials are responsible for their own safety equipment (goalkeeping kit, facemasks, mouth guards, whistles, shin pads etc) and we would encourage everyone to ensure they are clean and not shared amongst team-mates.
ask if any team mates can bring any spare facemasks so defenders can have their own mask for the gameif defenders need to share facemasks, the officials should be notified to ask to stop time to allow a wipe down of the mask with an alcohol cleaning wipe / apply alcohol hand gel to tissue and wipe maskall masks to be cleaned post game
Please ensure all team members wash their hands regularly - at least on arrival and leaving the ground where you are playing.
