Harry Potter: 5 Spells & Charms Aquarius Would Master (& 5 They Would Fail At)
The Wizarding World has brought fans many good things. On the other hand, almost every reader wanted to be a wizard or a witch which is pretty much impossible. So, naturally, it was yet another unachievable dream for every Potterhead.
That being said, many fans love memorizing and practicing spells pretending that their pen is a wand. But not every spell is as easy as it may seem - and nobody is comparable to Harry Potter. For the Aquariuses of the world, these ar the spells they'd master and the ones they'd struggle with.
10 Fail: Lumos
Lumos is one of the simplest spells that is actually taught in the first year during the Defense Against the Dark Arts classes. Once you cast the spell, the tip of the wand lights up illuminating the surroundings. It was actually invented only in the 18th century and is frequently used by wizards and witches alike.
However, Aquariuses might struggle with it a bit. The spell requires concentration which some Aquariuses may lack. It can also be a dangerous spell because the produced light is warm and can potentially ignite the surroundings if used uncarefully.
9 Master: Riddikulus
Riddikulus is known as the Boggart-Banishing Spell because it allows the wizard or witch to send back the Boggart attacking them. Boggarts are magical creatures that take on the form of their opponent's worst fears - but once the spell is cast successfully, they will assume a less threatening and amusing form which helps the wizard to laugh, making the Boggart disappear.
Because Aquariuses are used to going against society's norms and pretty much laughing in the face of danger, it's no wonder that they would excel with casting such a spell.
8 Fail: Alohomora
Alohomora is mainly used to open doors and windows, but it can open other locked objects too. In fact, it has been called "Thief's Friend" because of its ability to let the user access whatever has been purposefully locked away.
Aquariuses are constantly searching for answers concerning their own nature. They want to know who they are. But if they don't know the key to themselves, how can they master a spell that opens regular doors?
7 Master: Expelliarmus
Expelliarmus is the signature spell of Harry Potter himself, who prefers using it to disarm his opponents instead of attacking them with other spells. Expelliarmus is precisely that: it makes whatever the wizard or Muggle is holding fly out of their hands (though in films it was sometimes depicted as throwing the opponent backward too).
Aquariuses are very tolerant and accepting people, so it is only natural that they would be of a similar opinion as Harry. Even if they struggle at first, they will probably want to master the spell to prevent harming their opponents or letting the opponents harm them instead.
6 Fail: Obliviate
Obliviate seems to be one of the rare spells mostly used on Muggles rather than on the magical folk. Though it has a negative association because of Gilderoy Lockhart, who used it to erase the memories of those from whom he had stolen stories, it can actually be very useful. For example, Hermione erased the memories of herself from her parents' minds (to protect them) but restored them afterward.
But no matter how useful the spell might be, most Aquariuses will probably struggle with it because it doesn't sit well with their worldview. They are simply too good for using a spell like that to erase someone's memories.
5 Master: Wingardium Leviosa
Wingardium Leviosa is one of the first charms learned by wizards and witches, but what it's really popular for is the scene where Hermione corrects Ron and explains how to pronounce the name of the spell correctly.
Considering that Aquarius people - though being quite rational at times - are somewhat dreamy, it's safe to say that they "keep their heads in the clouds" sometimes. Would they master Wingardium Leviosa? Definitely.
4 Fail: Sectumsempra
Sectumsempra is not one of the spells taught in Hogwarts. In fact, it isn't even a spell or charm - it's a curse. Snape, being the talented wizard that he is, invented it while still being a student and Harry discovered the curse in Snape's old Potions book.
Sectumsempra is probably one of the most horrifying curses in existence as it lacerates the target and causes hemorrhaging. This is exactly why Aquariuses would probably avoid using it at all costs.
3 Master: Accio
Accio might seem like an easy spell, but it actually requires a lot of practice to master. Harry learned the spell to compete in the Triwizard Tournament so he could summon his broom and fly away instead of fighting the dragon.
Because Aquariuses are very dedicated and hardworking people, they will probably take up this challenge of learning a spell gradually rather than all at once.
2 Fail: Avada Kedavra
Though Sectumsempra may be horrifying, there is nothing worse than Avada Kedavra. It is pretty much the magical equivalent of using any kind of weapon to kill another person. No wonder it is considered one of the three Unforgivable Curses.
There is a very small chance that Aquariuses will ever need to use it - they are not the ones to turn to the dark side quickly. They probably wouldn't even try learning this curse.
1 Master: Expecto Patronum
Expecto Patronum is a very powerful spell that not every wizard can produce. Not only do you have to have a happy memory you can recall, but you should also be strong enough to cast a spell like that.
Because Aquariuses are known to be persevering as well as not being at all susceptible to criticism, they are mostly carefree and joyful people. This means that they will have plenty of memories to recall. And with their dedication, they will ultimately master the spell.
