And some people did have some doubts about parachuting him into the team - not me, I wanted him in asap...but after the World Cup and that, I really think there was a lot of good will and people really did want to see him tearing test teams up.
But he had a strop in about his second or third test didn't he?
Like I say, I don't think he was handled great early on. But there are times when he hasn't helped himself, and the Bio Security breech was just dim.
I think they have tried to throw their arms around him from within the team - I think they do recognise that he is a great talent and want it to work. There was a lot of support after the Covid breech with people saying - look he made a mistake, let's not hang him out to dry for it...
