Tom Holland Threatens Robert Pattinson In Devil All the Time Trailer
The first trailer for The Devil All The Time focuses on the stellar cast, and the central conflict between Tom Holland and Robert Pattinson. Directed by Antonio Campos, The Devil All The Time is an adaptation of the 2011 novel of the same name, which charts the lives of a number of people in Ohio between the Second World War and The Vietnam War.
The film's star-studded cast was highlighted in a number of images and the poster, which have all been released this month ahead of the movie's debut on Netflix September 16. In addition to Holland and Pattinson, the Netflix drama also stars Sebastian Stan, in a role he took over from fellow Marvel alum Chris Evans, Bill Skarsgard, Riley Keough, Jason Clarke, Harry Melling and Mia Wasikowska. The images teased a serious, adult drama filled with tension and a disparate group of extreme characters.
Now, Netflix has released a stunning new trailer for The Devil All The Time, which doubles down on the drama and tension. The focus in the trailer is on the conflict between Holland's orphan Arvin Russell and Pattison's preacher Preston Teagardin. There is also a great deal of screen time given to Skarsgard, who plays Arvin's father, Willard, a man struggling with the things he did and witnessed during World War II. You can watch the trailer below.
Naturally, given the massive cast of big names, the trailer also spends a great deal of time focusing on just how talented the actors involved are. From Keough to Harry Potter star Melling, each actor gets to show off their acting chops in the trailer, driving home the point that this isn't a family-friendly blockbuster, but rather is attempting to be an Oscar-worthy drama. However, even among such a talented ensemble cast, the Spider-Man star and his Batman counterpart stand out.
Pattinson has long proven his acting ability, starring in a string of independent movies following the end of the Twilight franchise. On the other hand, despite appearing in a number of dramas throughout his career, Holland hasn't been given a chance to flex his acting muscles outside of the Spider-Man franchise. But here, he looks to be in brooding, intense form.
The role is certainly a departure for Holland, and one that looks set to gain him more recognition for his acting ability. The trailer seems to put him on a collision course with Pattinson, and the scenes they share look like they'll be electrifying. Based on that confrontation alone, The Devil All The Time should be worth a watch.
