Here’s how to watch How To Train Your Dragon online, including whether the animated adventure is available on Netflix, Hulu or Prime. Paramount Pictures’ 2010 animation How To Train Your Dragon is a charming coming-of-age tale about a young Viking lad named Hiccup (Jay Baruchel) whose island home is under constant attack from hordes of marauding dragons. After befriending a benign dragon named Toothless, Hiccup soon learns there is more to the once-fearsome creatures than he originally thought.
How To Train Your Dragon was co-directed by Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois – the duo behind Disney’s Lilo & Stitch – and was a big box office hit, ranking as the tenth highest-grossing film of 2010. The animation also kick-started a hit franchise that currently includes two movie sequels - How To Train Your Dragon 2 and How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World - and three TV shows alongside a series of short films and various video games.
Unfortunately for fans of the How To Train Your Dragon series, co-director DeBlois has confirmed there are no plans to add another movie to the franchise. On the upside, there are plenty of ways to watch the original movie online. How To Train Your Dragon is currently in the Netflix library and available to subscribers in regions including Australia, Canada and the UK while its second sequel How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World is available in Australia too. While the feature-length movies aren’t currently available in the USA, American Netflix users can watch other How To Train Your Dragon-related content including all six seasons of spinoff Dragons: Race To The Edge and How To Train Your Dragon: Legends – a collection of short films that includes Legend Of The Boneknapper, Book Of Dragons and Gift Of The Night Fury.
Hulu users are out of luck, however, as How To Train Your Dragon isn’t available via the Disney-owned streaming service. The third and final film in the trilogy – How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World – is currently available though, as is the festive short film Snoggletog Log.
Luckily for Prime users, there is plenty of How To Train Your Dragon content via the Amazon-owned streaming service, including the original movie which is free to watch with Prime membership. The two movie sequels, the shows DreamWorks Dragons and Dragons: Race To The Edge and the short film How To Train Your Dragon: Homecoming are also available but aren’t currently free to watch.
