Full House: 10 Things That Make No Sense About Joey | ScreenRant
The show Full House owes a lot of its laughs to Joey Gladstone. The California comedian moves in with Danny Tanner when Danny's wife, Pam, passes away. Joey and Uncle Jesse are like additional dads to DJ, Stephanie, and Michelle throughout the show's eight seasons.
Joey is a loving and gentle parental figure, and he tries to be helpful to everyone in the house. As wonderful as Joey Gladstone is, there are still several things about the character that don't make sense.
10 His Skills
Joey is a comedian by trade, and he has been at it for years. He knows how to make people laugh, and he knows how to pay the bills while he is waiting for his big break.
One thing that fans aren't clear on is Joey's wider skill set. He can tell jokes, host radio and television shows, sell ads, and more, but what are some of his broader life skills? The guy spends a decade of his life living with his best friend's family, so it can be difficult to understand what he is capable of on his own.
9 His Calmness
When push comes to shove, Joey isn't afraid to stand up for himself. He prefers to be calm and cool when speaking with people, though. It is amazing that he is able to be so collected with the chaos of living with such a large family.
It doesn't make sense that he doesn't get frustrated more often.
8 His Moods
Joey may be calm, but he can also be moody. When he thinks the family is forgetting about him, he gets a sour look on his face, until he sees that they have renovated the garage/basement for him to use as a bedroom.
When he feels inadequate, he will use almost all of the episode's twenty-two minutes to brood. Joey has a lot going for him, so it doesn't make sense for him to feel so down.
7 His Jealousy
Joey has major jealousy issues. He doesn't seem to be too jealous of Danny or Joey individually, but he is quite jealous of their friendship. Joey often feels like a third wheel to the brothers-in-law.
During Fuller House, he learns that Danny originally didn't want him to move in for fear that Joey's comedy would be off-putting after Pam's death. Maybe the triangular friendship would make more sense to everyone if they could all be honest with each other a little sooner.
6 His Discipline Style
Joey looks to Danny for some parenting advice, but the comic starts to develop his own style of discipline. He is often fair with the girls, but he occasionally lets them walk all over him.
Even if Joey is less experienced in the beginning, it makes no sense for him to let anyone defy his authority or pressure him into changing a rule.
5 His Jobs
Joey tries his hand at a number of side jobs when his comedy work is slow. Partnering often with Jesse, Joey works in advertising, radio, and television.
These jobs are in the same ballpark, but is Joey really happy working in each of them? Facets of his comedic timing work with the hosting jobs and go with the creativity required of ads, but fans want to know that his artistic needs are truly fulfilled.
4 His Comedy
Joey is pretty funny doing stand-up, but his everyday existence is even funnier. He gets into unbelievable situations with the rest of the family, and those moments are the fabric of the sitcom.
Some fans get tired of "cut-it-out" and Mr. Woodchuck, but it doesn't make any sense for someone to say that Joey Gladstone isn't funny.
3 His Personal Life
Joey keeps personal matters to himself almost entirely. His goal is to help Danny raise his kids, and Joey sticks to that. DJ, Stephanie, and Michelle aren't the prying kind when it comes to Joey.
They know that they can trust him, but they don't spend a bunch of time trying to learn more about his life and affairs. In a house where everyone seems to know everything else, it is a miracle that Joey can keep so much private.
2 His Background
Like Jesse and Danny, Joey doesn't talk about his childhood all the time. Fans meet his mother just once, in season one. They meet his father once, too, and they learn that Joey has a difficult relationship with the man.
Joey reveals that he always wanted to be part of a big family like The Brady Bunch, so living with the Tanners is a dream come true for him. Fans know that some of his funny flair came from watching cartoons as a kid, but it would be cool to know even more.
1 His Singleness
Joey is a handsome guy with a lot to offer. He goes on a few dates here and there, but no serious relationships arise in the eight seasons of the show. Just when a date looks promising, something is wrong.
It doesn't make sense that a catch like Joey is single for so long. At least he finds happiness by the time Fuller House rolls around.
