Lidl worker goes viral after entertaining shoppers with opera performances in lockdown
A LIDL worker who sings opera to customers has gone global.
Trained soprano Lily Taylor-Ward started belting out classics in lockdown.
Lily, 24, who also teaches music online, said: “I thought, ‘Do you know what? Let’s have a bit of a sing-song outside’.”
The part-time checkout assistant performed in the car park after her shift in her home town of Sandiacre, Derbys.
Shoppers lapped it up and she has done it weekly since, and now her “gigs” have gone viral.
As well as opera, Lily’s repertoire includes Somewhere Over The Rainbow and You Raise Me Up.
She said: “The response has been incredible. I have had so many comments on Facebook and social media I’m quite overwhelmed.
