Rain cancels racing Saturday, Aug. 15 at Volunteer Speedway; $5 grandstand admission ‘Fan Appreciation Night’ scheduled Aug. 22

BULLS GAP, Tenn. (Aug. 15, 2020) — With rain beginning to fall early this morning and the National Weather Service forecast predicting 60-70% chance of additional precipitation throughout the day into nighttime, Volunteer Speedway is forced into canceling Back-2-School Night at “The Gap” racing program for Saturday, Aug. 15.

It’s always a difficult decision to make when canceling a night of racing, because everyone has looked forward all week in getting to the track. But when you factor in the National Weather Service forecast and rain throughout the day, instead of making people wait until later in the afternoon to make the call – it’s just better to cancel early and allow individuals to make other plans.

Volunteer Speedway will be back in action next Saturday, Aug. 22 with the always popular Fan Appreciation Night, which allows for on-track meet-and-greet with drivers and viewing the race cars up close. There will be kids bicycle and power wheels races, along with other activities and prize giveaways. … Adult grandstand admission for Fan Appreciation Night is $5, with kids 10-and-under free.

Crate Late Model, Sportsman Late Model, Modified Street, Classic, Street Stock and Front Wheel Drive will be racing on the high banks.

Volunteer Speedway is located in Bulls Gap, Tenn., just off Interstate 81 at Exit 23.
