Akshay Jakhete and Pradhyuman Maloo were both Mumbai-based clients of Sima Taparia on Indian Matchmaking. Both had different personalities – Pradhyuman was outgoing while Akshay was shy and reserved. But there is one cast member from Indian Matchmaking who oddly ties their stories together. And that person is none other than Jalgaon-based artist and Pradhyuman’s match Snehal Totla.
Pradhyuman and Akshay must have collectively rejected at least 220 proposals on Indian Matchmaking. Or at least, that’s what the reality show had its viewers believe. Jewelry designer Pradhyuman was a tough nut to crack according to Taparia, but she kept trying nonetheless until she found him a model. Akshay on the other hand didn’t have any criteria of his own and let his mother do all the talking. His only confidante was cousin Mansha who he poured his heart out to over brownies. Taparia matched him with a CA student and Akshay chose her as a life partner. But whenIndian Matchmaking’s filming schedule ended, so did Pradhuman and Akshay’s “relationships.” Pradhyuman and Rushali parted ways on a good note but Akshay called off his roka ceremony the very next day. But as it turns out, their dating, or in this case Indian Matchmaking pool created by Taparia wasn’t quite diverse. One of Pradhyuman’s dates is actually Akshay’s cousin!
A twitter user Kalli Mahajan stumbled upon this information and decided to share it with Indian Matchmaking fans. She wrote, “Mansha Totla AKA Akshay’s cousin is related to Snehal Totla from Jalgaon.” She further stated that Snehal is the girl that Pradhyuman refuses to date as she lives too far away from his home in South Mumbai. The user ended her tweet with, “IS INDIAN MATCHMAKING RIGGED????” Mansha Totla who’s recently joined Twitter after her newfound fame was notified of the tweet, immediately replied asking the user to “stop stalking” them. She added, “If you want to know what actually happened just DM me!” After what looks like a conversation between the user and Mansha, she updated her friends with, “Apparently the show is not scripted and this was a random coincidence.” Below is a picture that hints that Snehal and Mansha are indeed related, thus making her Akshay’s cousin too. Small world, isn’t it?
Although Indian Matchmaking has created a lot of buzz ever since it premiered on Netflix, there are many who believe the show is scripted. The strange coincidence linking Akshay and Pradhyuman adds weight to the fact that the singles on the Netflix show have been indeed picked up via auditions. The same has been confirmed by the likes of Aparna and Shekar as well. But does it also mean that the matches on Indian Matchmaking were rigged?
If that’s the case was Taparia involved in any of the processes at all? Or, as she would say, was it just a fault in their stars?
