Harry Potter: 10 Unanswered Questions We Still Have About Hit Wizards
An extensive universe like the one of Harry Potter is bound to leave questions unanswered. And there are plenty of those in regards to Hit Wizards.
Despite all the Harry Potter books and movies, there are still some doubts about the wizarding world, because it is a very extensive universe with a lot of information. J.K. Rowling uses social media to explain details to fans that were sometimes overlooked, but, even so, there are certain aspects that still generate questions, and these include the Hit Wizards.
This group of Wizards is highly qualified to deal with dangerous criminals, are trained to face complicated situations, and is part of the Magical Law Enforcement Squad. Not much is known about the profession, but everyone remembers that it was the Hit Wizards who arrested Sirius Black when he was (wrongly) accused of killing 13 Muggles and Peter Pettigrew.
10 Do The Hit Wizards Work Alongside The Aurors?

Many fanatics find it difficult to differentiate between the work of the Hit Wizards and the Aurors, and although the two professions work independently, there are still doubts about this. According to the description, the Hit Wizards are a subdivision of the Magical Law Enforcement Squad and specialize in high-risk situations.
As both professions involve the dark arts and dangerous circumstances, they can cause uncertainty about the ability and limits of each. The Aurors do research and fight dangerous wizards, but it has never been said whether they work alongside the Hit Wizards in certain complicated cases that require greater logistical capacity.
9 Are The Hit Wizards Police?
![](https://static1.srcdn.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Harry-Potter-theatrical-poster-Cropped.jpg)
One of the ways that fans understand the Harry Potter universe is by relating it to the world of humans. To try to understand the work of the Hit Wizards, some readers compare this squad to the police force or the SWAT team.
The Hit Wizards can be considered inferior to the Aurors, because the training and requirements are lower (5 O.W.L.s including Defence Against the Dark Arts, while the Aurors need 5 N.E.W.T.s and 3 years of training). The truth is that both are elite specialized units, but the separation of their roles is not entirely clear.
8 Do They Work Individually?
![](https://static1.srcdn.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Harry-Potter-Deathly-Hallows-Part-One-Replacement.jpg)
The Hit Wizards operated as a team during the capture of Sirius Black, but it is unknown if they work individually as the Aurors do. They face risky situations like dangerous arrests, and in these cases, they work in groups.
They also escorted Quidditch's team players during the disturbances of the Puddlemere United v Holyhead Harpies game. In such situations, they are understood to work as a squad, but there is scarce information on less risky situations where they can take action alone.
7 Are They Assassins?
![](https://static1.srcdn.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Harry-Potter-movies-changed-Dumbledore-death.jpg)
The term Hit Wizards creates confusion regarding the work these wizards from the Magical Law Enforcement Squad do. Are they licensed killers or perform other work?
It is known that they intervene in risky situations (arrests and riot control), where they must not only face death with another wizard. So, it seems that their work can be closer to what is done by police and military, and not to that of hitmen.
6 Can They Use Unforgivable Curses?
![](https://static1.srcdn.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Harry-Potter-movies-got-Voldemort-death-wrong.jpg)
The wizarding world is also sustained by laws, otherwise, everything would probably be in chaos. Wizards are forbidden to use magic in front of muggles and some of the spells cannot be applied, unless they are in an extreme situation.
Since they face risky situations, it would be more likely that this group of wizards would be allowed to break certain rules (within limits). But how far do their capabilities extend? Are they allowed to use unforgivable curses in some situations? During the war it is clear that it was a matter of life and death, but what happens in more ambiguous moments?
5 What Kind Of Training Do They Receive?
![](https://static1.srcdn.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Harry-Potter.jpg)
The requirements to be a Hit Wizard are known, but the type of training or the time involved is not specified. Although Hogwarts' education is excellent, it doesn't seem to be enough for a profession where wizards must constantly face dangerous circumstances.
In the Harry Potter universe, there are mentioned other witchcraft and wizardry schools around the world (besides Hogwarts) but there is not much knowledge about the lives of young people after graduation. Is there a university or specialized institution for the Hit Wizards?
4 Are There Ranks For The Hit Wizards?
![](https://static3.srcdn.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Harry-Potter-Library-With-Ron-and-Hermione-Reading-Boooks.jpg)
Throughout time, there have been very powerful wizards, so a novice probably can't face, for example, a strong Death Eater. Of course, it's possible to think that there are different levels among the Hit Wizards, but this is not clear.
As in any other profession, experience, talent, and preparation are important to achieve success, especially in one where people's lives are at stake. So, is everyone capable of dealing with the dark forces, or do they work according to their ability?
3 Why The Absence Of Famous Hit Wizards?
![](https://static1.srcdn.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Harry-Potter-Aurors.jpg)
Aurors seem to be one of the most desired professions in the whole wizarding world, excluding the Hit Wizards. Not only students like Harry want to be Aurors, but also some of the most important characters are Aurors.
Besides Arnold Peasegood and Alastor Gumboil, there are no other Hit Wizards known, and these characters are not very relevant in the Harry Potter saga. If it's easier to get the credits to be a Hit Wizard, why aren't more wizards interested in it?
2 Can A Hit Wizard Become An Auror?
![](https://static3.srcdn.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/3-Harry-Potter-Ron-Weasley-Severus-Snape.jpg)
In the human world, cops and detectives can be promoted in their professional careers, so it would be logical that they can be upgraded for merit or after further studies.
It's not clear if a more feasible way to become Auror is to work as a Hit Wizard first. This option would please Ron who didn't have enough credits but dreamed of becoming Auror (he probably accomplished because of all his help to stop the Dark Lord).
1 Where Were The Hit Wizards During The Battle Of Hogwarts?
![](https://static1.srcdn.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Harry-Potter-Neville-Longbottom-Battle-of-Hogwarts.jpg)
Voldemort was putting the world at risk, and in the Second Wizarding War a lot of wizards were fighting, some of them underage (like Ginny and Colin Creevey) so where were these specialized security forces?
During the battle of Hogwarts, and before it, Aurors like Tonks, Moody, Savage, Proudfoot, and Kingsley Shacklebolt fought alongside students and teachers, but no one heard of a team of Hit Wizards sent to fight the dark wizards on the side of You-Know-Who.
