Where has the libertarian, buccaneering Boris Johnson, gone? The man that I knew is now the infringer of my civil liberties and the maker of criminals from decent, law-abiding citizens. He is in danger of transmogrifying into a latter-day Jim Callaghan of the Seventies "crisis, what crisis" notoriety. It might have been a good Supertramp album title, but did nothing for the prospects of the country.
