The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword For Nintendo Switch Listed On Amazon

0

One of the most divisive games in The Legend of Zelda series could be coming to Nintendo Switchas a listing for a Switch version of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword has appeared on Amazon UK. The game was initially released for the Nintendo Wii in 2011 and has yet to receive any updated ports.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword was a polarizing game at launch, as fans and critics derided it for its back-tracking and for featuring one of the most annoying sidekicks in video game history, with Fi giving Navi from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time a run for her money. The game required the Wii MotionPlus in order to work, allowing for a greater range of movement with Link's sword. The use of the MotionPlus led many fans to believe that Skyward Sword couldn't work on the Switch, as the Joy-Con isn't as precise as a Wiimote.

It seems that the rumors of a The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword port to the Switch could be true. Wario64 initially reported on Twitter that a listing for "Legend of Zelda - Skyward Sword" has appeared on Amazon UK. At time of writing, the link is still up. The page appears to be a placeholder at the moment, as it has no cover art and the price is listed as £69.99 ($92 USD). It's possible that Nintendo is saving the reveal for an upcoming Direct, or it could shadow-drop an announcement as it recently did with the trailer for Pikmin 3 Deluxe.

There are rumors that Nintendo is bringing all of the 3D Super Mario Bros. games to Nintendo in 2020 Switch for the series' 35th anniversary. It's possible that Nintendo is planning to do the same thing for the 35th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda series, which happens in 2021. A recent series of Zelda trademarks suggests that Nintendo has big plans for the Zelda anniversary, and a Skyward Sword port could be part of it. It should be clarified that this Amazon listing could be incorrect, so the existence of the game should be treated as a rumor for the time being.

The Legend of Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma has dropped numerous hints that Skyward Sword port for Nintendo Switch is in development. The game is long overdue for an HD remaster and the Switch would be the perfect system for the game. The only question now is how the developers were able to emulate the functions of the Wii MotionPlus with the Joy-Cons?
