New Superman & Lois Posters Pay Homage To DC Comics | Screen Rant
New posters for the first season of Superman and Lois have been released that pay homage to DC Comics. When the Arrowverse began, there was originally a restriction on using some of the biggest DC characters, especially Batman and Superman. But, season 2 of Supergirl changed this when Tyler Hoechlin joined the show as the Arrowverse's Superman. Hoechlin has returned a few times as the Kryptonian hero, but fans will soon see much more of him.
The CW announced in early 2020 that Hoechlin will star in Superman and Lois, along with Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane. The show will have its fair share of adventures for Superman and Lois, but it will also feature them tackling the challenges of parenting. Teenage versions of Jonathan and Jordan Kent will be played by Jordan Elsass and Alexander Garfin, respectively. With several other characters from the comics already cast too, Superman and Lois will feature stories and characters from the comics that previous Superman movies and shows didn't fully explore.
The inspiration from the comics is clear thanks to the release of new posters for Superman and Lois. The CW released solo character posters for Hoechlin's Superman and Tulloch's Lois Lane. The posters feature the stars in power poses as panels from various DC comics are seen in the background. Superman's is filled with moments of him using his powers, while Lois' has a purple theme throughout with Tulloch's purple shirt matching Lois' attire in the selected panels.
These posters aren't the first pieces of promotional material for Superman and Lois, but it remains to be seen when more will come. The show was picked up for a full series order earlier this year but the coronavirus has prevented production from happening as planned. This has resulted in every Arrowverse show getting delayed until 2021, which these posters also highlight. Superman and Lois and other Arrowverse shows will reportedly start filming this fall, though, so it won't be too long before fans could start to see set photos of the show's first season.
Now that The CW has teased Superman and Lois again, it might not be too long before some more information is available. The show will have a panel at DC FanDome which will discuss the plans for season 1. Since the early marketing for Superman and Lois has only focused on the titular characters, perhaps the first look at other characters could come soon. The event could be a good place to unveil the first look at the Super Sons or Lana Lang (Emmanuelle Chriqui), but the coronavirus might have prevented such photos from ever being taken. Either way, hopefully more details on Superman and Lois will arrive shortly.
