Tom Holland's Spider-Man & Robert Pattinson's Batman Morph In Cool Fan Art
New fan art, inspired by their appearance in The Devil All The Time, combines Tom Holland's Spider-Man and Robert Pattinson's Batman. The Netflix film dropped its first trailer this week, and teases a tense and possibly violent confrontation between Holland and Pattinson's characters. The Devil All The Time is based on the novel of the same name by Donald Ray Pollock, and besides the two superhero actors features a stellar ensemble cast that includes Bill Skarsgard (It Chapter 1 and It Chapter 2), Sebastian Stan (MCU's Winter Soldier), Riley Keough (Mad Max: Fury Road), Jason Clarke (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Harry Melling (Harry Potter series) and Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland).
But the brooding performances by Pattinson and Holland stand out, not just for their intensity but for the shock value of having the current Spider-Man come up against the current Batman. The trailer teases a scene where Holland's orphan confronts Pattison's crooked preacher with a gun, threatening a bloody end to their story. Holland has occupied the part of the Marvel character since being introduced in Captain America: Civil War in 2016, and Pattinson is set to don the cowl and cape of The Dark Knight for DC in Matt Reeves' upcoming blockbuster The Batman.
Now, digital artist and comic book fan Mohammed Hibban has posted a piece of fan art that morphs the actor's two characters into one. The left half is a black-suited Spider-Man flanked by Holland, while the right half is Pattinson's gritty Batman suit, with the British actor's portrait flanking the right shoulder. Hibban's caption reveals that the art was inspired by watching the trailer for The Devil All The Time. You can see the fan art below.
The morphed fan art poses an alternate universe where the DC and Marvel characters co-exist. Or perhaps are a single entity which combines the strengths, and weaknesses, of each character. A web-slinging billionaire vigilante who operates under the cover of night and was turned to a life fighting crime by the deaths of his parents and uncle, perhaps?
While the fan art presents a pop culture mash-up that will never come to life, fans of both actors will be able to see the actors face off in The Devil All The Time. The movie, besides sounding like an interesting and engaging drama, gives both DC and Marvel fans an opportunity to watch the Spider-Man and Batman actors flex their dramatic muscles a year before their respective superhero outings. It will hopefully fulfill audiences' desire to see each actor in action, as both The Batman and Spider-Man: Homecoming 3 only come out late in 2021.
