Death Stranding: Best Things to Do After Beating The Game
"Tomorrow is in your hands" is both a tagline to Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding and the title of the game's fifteenth and final episode. This last chapter isn't really an episode, though. In fact, it actually takes Sam Porter Bridges back two weeks in the story and essentially functions as an introduction to the post-end game content.
By this point in the game, players surely know whether they're into Kojima's blend of surreal, avant-garde aesthetics with an extremely unique take on platforming. This is the end, after all. But don't fret! Even without the labyrinthine plot in the background, players will still find plenty to do. In some ways, the game becomes even more fun to play as one can go about it at their own (walking) pace with all the Porter tools at their disposal as well as a robust road system. This guide will cover the best things to do after beating the game.
Don't stop delivering
The game sees you delivering tons of packages (literally), but there's a good chance there are still plenty of Standard Deliveries for Sam to take care of. Players can't actually run out of standard orders, as they will regenerate eventually, but there are hundreds of unique ones and it's worth doing them all until you have maxed out the connection level with every prepper and distribution center. Sam gets a star for each one! It's a real treat to do so with all the gear that Sam gets access to throughout the game as well.
Go to Peter Englert's bunker
On the topic of deliveries, remember that guy who was always ordering pizza? Well, in the post-game, Sam can finally enter his bunker. Without spoiling what is found there, let it be said: it's worth the trip.
Read everything
Death Stranding is a strange case in the way it is very game-play heavy (especially considering it's coming from Kojima), while still giving the player tons and tons of lore. Read every interview and email? Probably not. Get into a bunker, put on some fine tunes, and get to reading.
Up the challenge
Death Stranding is never overly challenging, even on the newly introduced Very Hard mode, but it's still fun to up the stakes. Higher difficulties will make MULEs tougher and cause timefall to do more damage, as well as making actual traversal even trickier. Beyond just changing the difficulty settings, Sam can also take on Premium Deliveries, which apply extra challenges to the regular old orders. Taking on Premium Deliveries while playing on Hard mode or higher will allow players to earn "Legend of Legends" evaluations, which are necessary to get the "Growth of a Legend" trophy.
Reconnect America...with zip lines!
Speaking of getting the "Legend of Legends" evaluation, players are going to have to really perform well to earn that. The best way to complete orders efficiently is, in fact, by constructing a network of zip lines connecting all the bunkers. While zipping from one spot to another might not be as exciting as riding there on a motorized tricycle, building a network of zip lines is its own kind of puzzle. Players will have to carefully place their PCCs and manage the Chiral Bandwith to get it all done and then everything can be delivered as speedily as possible. This can also potentially help out Sam's fellow porters, so don't forget to build as much as possible!
Play around with photo-mode
Sometimes Sam needs to take it slow and take in the sights, though. While the photo-mode here might not be as robust as Ghost of Tsushima's, it's still great to snap some pics of those epic vistas of post-apocalyptic America and capture memories with Lou.
Spend time with Lou
Speaking of Sam's BB...spend some time with her! Rock her to sleep! Soothe her with Sam's fine harmonica skills! She's the best.
Of course, one could always start the journey over again and see Sam and Lou's story from the beginning. That said, the post-game offers plenty of fun for players to have and gives Sam all the tools he needs to be the world's best porter.
Death Stranding is available on PlayStation 4 and PC.
