Which Umbrella Academy Character Is Most Like Which Member Of The Justice League?

0

While the world of streaming television changes, it looks like the big-screen DC movies, including Justice Leauge and all its heroes, will head to HBO Max from here out. With that in mind, Netflix has started producing its own shows based on indie comics, including The Umbrella Academy by Dark Horse Comics.

Based on the comic books by Gerard Way, Gabriel Ba, Jason Hvam, and Dave Stewart, Umbrella Academy tells the story of a member of a former child team who returns from the future with a warning apocalypse is coming. The characters involved also have similarities to members of the Justice League, and here is a look at those similar characters.

10 VANYA - CAPTAIN ATOM

When it comes to all the members of the Umbrella Academy, no one is more powerful than Vanya. She was strong enough to pull the moon from the sky when she lost her cool, and she single-handily destroyed the Earth in that timeline.

When it comes to the Justice League, Superman might be the most powerful, but a more apt comparison is Captain Atom, who also has the power to destroy the world with a thought.

9 LUTHER - SUPERMAN

Easily, the strongest, most durable member of the Umbrella Academy is Luther. When it comes to Justice Leauge, they have some significant power in the strength department.

However, while Wonder Woman and Aquaman can lay claim to being the most powerful member of their superteam, it is Superman that stands on the top of the hill. The two were also the early ideal leaders, but neither man cared to keep that role after time passed.

8 DIEGO - BATMAN

Diego always felt that he was at his best when he was by himself. It wasn't until Season 2 that he thought he could work as a team player and succeed. However, through much of Umbrella Academy, Diego always worked as a low-rent Batman.

He had very few of the tools and gadgets, but he was still the nighttime warrior that hid in the shadows and dealt with crime in his own way.

7 ALLISON - BLACK CANARY

When it comes to her powers, Umbrella Academy member Allison uses her voice to get what she wants. She has to say, "I heard a rumor," and whatever she says after that, the person she is talking to will immediately due.

Black Canary is also someone who uses her voice as a power. However, while Allison can talk to people to get what she wants and needs, Canary uses her high-sonic scream to shatter things and take out her enemies. The two women have the most powerful voices on their teams.

6 KLAUS - THE PHANTOM STRANGER

In Umbrella Academy, Klaus can not only see dead people, but he can talk to them. At times, he can convince them to help him as well. That sounds a lot like part-time Justice League member, The Phantom Stranger.

Both of these heroes have also shown that prolonged exposure to certain dead spirits can inflict severe damage to their psyche and leave them vulnerable to possession. The most significant difference is that the Phantom Stranger knows how powerful he is while Klaus is a mess.

5 NUMBER FIVE - FLASH

Number Five has a superpower that almost destroyed him at one time. He can move through time and, as a child, ran into the future where the world was decimated. Later, in Season 2, he sent his entire team back in time and set out to change the past to save the world again.

In Justice League, one member is known for traveling through time to change the world, and that is Flash. The difference is that Flash changed all history, while Number Five just worked to save the planet.

4 BEN - DEADMAN

Ben was once someone who could create monsters out of thin air. That was pretty scary stuff, but it wasn't enough to save him as he died as a child. After that, he became a ghost that talked to Klaus and helped influence his decisions — usually for the better.

In Justice Leauge Dark, that sounds a lot like Deadman. He was a stunt man who died and then came back as a ghost that only a few people could see — usually mystics. He also possesses people and can control their bodies, something Ben learned how to do in Season 2.

3 SIR REGINALD - AMANDA WALLER

Sir Reginald set up the Umbrella Academy to fight his battles, or the battles he felt needed to be fought to keep the world a safer place. He did this without much concern if they lived or died, as he showed when he had no compassion when Ben died and just placed blame on the children he used as soldiers.

While she doesn't use children, Amanda Waller has the same mode of thinking. When something needs to be done, she sends in superpowered beings and has no care if they come back alive, as long as the job is completed.

2 LILA - HUNTRESS

Lila was not who she claimed to be in Umbrella Academy. Instead of being a mental patient with an infatuation for Diego, Lila was a trained assassin who worked for her mother's organization and was more than able to hold her own and kill any target she set her eyes on.

A perfect comparison in Justice Leauge is Huntress, the daughter of a mobster who became a capable assassin in her own right before taking on the role of a hero.

1 THE HANDLER - MAXWELL LORD

In the Umbrella Academy, there was one person who felt that the team was not doing the right thing and set out to stop them at all costs. The Handler was the woman who was running the operation for the Commission, sending agents to stop the heroes at all costs.

In the Justice League universe, the closest comparison to The Handler is Maxwell Lord, who has his own commission that will do what he needs to keep the Justice League under control.
