The first official look at The Suicide Squad's cast in costume has been released during DC FanDome. When it was announced that James Gunn was taking over the Suicide Squad franchise, many were excited by the potential of the talented director tackling DC's villain team. He has been coy about whether The Suicide Squad is a sequel to David Ayer's 2016 movie or a reboot, and the truth might be somewhere in between. Some original cast members are returning alongside new additions like Idris Elba and John Cena.

Gunn announced the complete cast for The Suicide Squad when filming began, but even that reveal was slim on details. While the original movie released a first look photo at the cast suited up as their DC characters, Gunn hasn't revealed character identities for any of the new cast members, much less share a photo of them. Some set photos for The Suicide Squad did surface online during production, but none of them provided proper looks at the characters.
