Milano had voiced her support for Joe Biden after McGowan unleashed a tirade against the Democrats, calling them “motherf***ers.’

“What have the Democrats done to solve ANYTHING?,” McGowan tweeted on August 20. “Help the poor? No. Help black & brown people? No. Stop police brutality? No. Help single mothers? No. Help children? No. You have achieved nothing. NOTHING. Why did people vote Trump? Because of you motherf***ers.”

In response, Milano posted a “thread of all the things the Democratic Party has done to make the world a better place”.

She listed a number of examples, including President Woodrow Wilson giving the women the right to vote.

“Ummm… did you conveniently forget only WHITE WOMEN got the right to vote?,” McGowan blasted back.

Not satisfied, McGowan, who has been a prominent voice in the #MeToo movement, added: “1) You stole #metoo (a brilliant communication tool, not a movement) from Tarana. You co-opted my movement, the Cultural Reset, for fame, jealous of me for outing my rapist. You made 250k per week on Charmed.”

McGowan continued: “2) You threw a fit in front of the crew, yelling, ‘They don’t pay me enough to do this s**t!’ Appalling behavior on the daily. I cried every time we got renewed because you made that set toxic AF. Now, get off my coattails you f***ing fraud.”

The pair worked together on the hit TV show Charmed, which ran for eight seasons.

As the hashtag #AlyssaMilanoIsALie started trending, individuals weighed in to defend the Charmed actress, providing examples of how she had “shown up” for them.

@Alyssa_Milano shows up again and again for urgent causes,” wrote author Andrea Chalupa.

“If everyone with her size platform did this then we would have the muscle we need to finally clean up our democracy. Thank you, Alyssa. #AlyssaMilanoIsALie <– not true.”

Renato Mariotti, a former federal prosecutor added: “I’ve been very fortunate to get to know @Alyssa_Milano over the past few years. Her activism and passion to positively change the world is.”

As for Milano, she seemed to take McGowan’s outburst in her stride, tweeting: “Do you think we can get #AlyssaMilanoIsALie to trend number 1 before I fall asleep?

“Everyone saying sweet things—I see you. Thank you. Everyone saying horrible things—I see you. F**k off. Hurt people hurt people. Empowered people empower people. Loved people love people.”

Before bowing out for the evening, she added: “Commenting further doesn’t align with my wellness plan.”

Milano recently hit the news after speaking out about her hair loss, following a battle with coronavirus.

She urged her followers to take the virus seriously, asking them to wear a “damn mask”.

McGowan, meanwhile has also been in the headlines recently, when she publicly accused a Hollywood director of raping her when she was 15.
