Global smartwatch revenue jumped 20% year-over-year (YoY) in the first half of 2020, despite stagnating shipment growth during the period, according to data from Counterpoint Research.

Apple was the leading smartwatch vendor by revenue, which grew 22% YoY — and extended the gap between itself and rivals: During the first half of 2020 Apple's share of the smartwatch market grew 8 percentage points, from 43% in H1 2019 to 51% in H1 2020. On the other hand, Samsung's share of smartwatch shipment revenue fell 2 percentage points to 7.2% in H1 2020, making room for Garmin and Huawei to jump to the second and third spots, with 9.4% and 8.3% of the market, respectively.
