Meghan & Harry Sussex squad superfans launch campaign to boost Amazon ratings of controversial biography Finding Freedom
FANS of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have launched a campaign to boost ratings of controversial biography Finding Freedom on Amazon.
The “Sussex Squad” have been pushing for fans to leave five-star reviews of the book and upvote existing reviews, as they think trolls are deliberately marking it down.
One user tweeted: “There is an organized effort to leave bad reviews for Finding Freedom on Amazon and to mark hateful reviews as “helpful” so they appear first.”
Another added: “#SussexSquad, the trolls are upvoting all the negative reviews on Amazon by rating them as helpful (some are rated helpful by at least 400 people).
“If you have time, please go rate the positive reviews. Please share, thanks.”
However, some people were against the campaign to boost the rating of the book, and said negative reviews shouldn’t be deleted.
They wrote: “’So I’m hearing that the #SussexSquad have launched an operation to hide and remove negative reviews posted about Finding Freedom on Amazon.
“Sorry but just because you don’t agree with negative reviews – it doesn’t mean they should be deleted, removed or hidden.”
Amazon has since restricted all reviews on the biography written by Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand after noticing “unusual activity” on the site.
A message online reads: “Amazon has noticed unusual reviewing activity on this product. Due to this activity, we have limited this product to verified purchase reviews.”
Currently the biography has 3.8 out of 5 on the UK site, and has racked up almost 1,000 reviews from readers.
Finding Freedom was released earlier this month and shot to the top of Amazon’s bestseller list.
Royal fans rushed to buy the revealing book about the Duke, 35, and Duchess of Sussex, 39, and it hit the number one on the UK and US sites.
Authors Omid and Carolyn have had access to more than 100 people for the book and sources say it portrays the Sussexes in a positive light.

Finding Freedom is a tell-all about the Sussexes’ experience when they snubbed the royals during Megxit.
The extensively researched book aims to tell their side of the story and how they just wanted a bit of privacy and independence.
It was revealed the book would shatter the notion the American actress is the driving force behind the pair – and instead that it was Prince Harry who wanted to make the change.
Scobie and Durand said in a press release they wanted “to tell an accurate version of their journey and finally present the truth of misreported stories that have become gospel simply because of the amount of times they have been repeated”.
They added: “It is thanks to our sources that we have been able to share the definitive story of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.”
