A Taliban delegation arrives in Pakistan to discuss the Afghan peace process

A high-level Taliban delegation arrived in Pakistan to discuss the Afghan peace process with the Pakistani officials.

The delegation chaired by Abdul Ghani Baradar left Doha for Pakistan at the invitation of Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in an aim to discuss the Afghan peace process.

“Delegation has been invited to discuss the way forward in the Afghan peace process,” Zahid Hafeez Chaudhry a spokesperson to Pakistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs confirmed.

Not long ago Suhail Shaheen, Taliban’s spokesperson based in Doha had tweeted, “A high-level delegation led by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, Political Deputy-Amir, IEA and Director of the Political Office, left for Pakistan at the invitation of Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry. The delegation will hold talks with senior Pakistani officials”.

It comes as Pakistan recently took action to financially put sanctions on some insurgent leaders to refrain from demotion at FATF’s grey list.

It was reported that Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, a key Taliban’s leader name is also in Pakistan’s sanction list.
