Supernatural: 10 Sassiest Quotes From Chuck/God | ScreenRant
God is a recurring character in the CW series Supernatural. He was described as the deity who created the universe. God frequently left Heaven and intervened in worldly affairs by taking the human form of Chuck Shurley. He appears from the fourth season all the way to the fifteenth and last season.
Chuck also has an older sibling named Amara who is as strong as he is. Amara appears as a villain who constantly seeks to destroy God's work. Amidst all the turmoil that was going on, Chuck managed to utter some of the best quotes of any television character. Here are some of his best ones.
10 "You Know What Humanity's Greatest Creation Has Been? Music. That And Nacho Cheese. Even I Couldn't Have Dreamt Up That Deliciousness."
Chuck said these words to Metatron in Season 11's twentieth episode titled "Don't Call Me Shurley." While Metatron and Chuck were hanging out in the bar, Chuck revealed that he'd been busy running a blog with pictures of cats as well as writing a series of books called Revolution.
Metatron soon began getting suspicious that Chuck was going to punish him. Chuck dismissed his concerns by stating that he felt humanity's greatest achievement was music and he wanted them to work on a project together. He also went on to praise the cheese at the B.G.'s Canteen.
9 "I Am Not Hiding. I'm Just Done Watching My Experiments' Failures."
When Metatron and Chuck got back to the bar after a walk along the lakeshore, Metatron realized that Chuck was hiding and that he was actually hiding from his sister. Metatron thus called him a coward.
Chuck became angry and threw Metatron out of the bar through the doors. He then claimed that he was not hiding, He was just tired of watching humans fail. He then made all TV's turn on at the same time, all of them showing news about disasters and chaos all across Earth.
8 "I've Been Quietly Rooting Against You Both For Some Time Now. Although, I Can't Deny You're One Of My Guilty Pleasures."
In the 22nd episode of Season 11 titled "We Happy Few." Chuck had a heart-to-heart with the powerful witch Rowena when he finally met her and Crowley in person after teleporting. She told him she was sorry about all the evil things she had done in her life. She admitted that she knew he didn't like her at all.
Chuck stated that he had been in fact rooting for her downfall all along but admitted that watching her do her evil deeds had been kind of fun. What made that specific moment so brilliant was that right after Chuck's statement, both Rowena and Crowley exclaimed "Oh, God!" in awe of his witty remark.
7 "Listen, You Guys Know Me. I'm Hands-off. I Built The Sandbox... You Play In it. You Want To Fight Leviathans? Cool. But When Things Get Really Bad, like the Apocalypse, That's When I Have To Step in."
In Season 14's finale, Chuck was pretty honest as to what his duties as God entailed. When Sam, Dean, and Castiel got involved in an epic battle, he told them that they could do whatever they wished since he had given every being he created plenty of freedom. He wasn't a micromanager.
However, he made it clear that if things ever became too serious, then he'd have to intervene and bring the much-needed calm. When talking about the sandbox, Chuck was referring to both the Ma'lak Box as well as the Earth in general.
6 "I Needed To Step Away From Constantly Teaching And Punishing These Creatures. Being Overinvolved Is No Longer Parenting. It's Enabling."
In Season 11's 21st episode titled "All In The Family," Chuck confessed that he had given up on punishing and correcting humans because they had failed to grow up. He labeled his previous habit of being too caring and concerned as "overparenting." It had only yielded bad results.
Chuck decided to reveal his new approach after Dean called him out for being absent during major disasters throughout history. When Dean argued that things hadn't gotten any better with his new approach Chuck disagreed, stating that from where he stood, there was a big improvement.
5 "Some Free Advice? You Ever Get Back There, You Hoard Toilet Paper. You Understand Me? Hoard It. Hoard It like It's Made Of Gold. 'Cause It Is."
Dean awakened five years into the future in Season 5's fourth episode. He was met with the sight of an abandoned city that had been attacked by zombies.
When Dean insisted on going back to 2009 to try and change things, Chuck told him to start selling toilet paper when he gets back, This is because he'll find a disaster that'll cause humans to be in dire need of toilet paper. Chuck even suggested that toilet paper would have the same value as gold in 2009.
4 "The Father Killing His Own Son? This Is Abraham And Issac All Over Again... This Is Epic."
When Dean decided not to shoot Jack and threw away the gun, Chuck was disappointed. He begged Dean to pick up the gun because his throwing it away was not how the story was supposed to end.
When Castiel wondered what story Chuck was talking about, he explained that what Dean was about to do was comparable to when Abraham almost killed his only Isaac after being asked to do so by the Lord. Chuck badly wanted Dean to be willing to pull the trigger so that the stories would be similar.
3 "There Are Many Worlds. I kinda Lost Count. One Of Them's Just All Squirrels."
A curious Sam once asked Chuck how many worlds, universes, or realities there were. Despite being responsible for creating them all, Chuck wasn't aware of how many there were. They were simply too many.
He went on to reveal that one world even moved in reverse while in another, there existed nothing but squirrels. There must be plenty of things happening behind Chuck's back if he has truly lost count. The moment was a truly hilarious one, showing that even for a supernatural entity, keeping up with everything wasn't easy.
2 "Listen, I Know I’ve Been Gone For A While. I Missed A Few Million Birthdays."
Chuck had an argument with Lucifer in "We Happy Few." Lucifer lamented that he had never made an effort to repair their relationship ever since they had a disagreement. He also added that he was too quick to show up when humans were having a problem but he wasn't there for his former angels.
Chuck admitted that he had indeed missed millions of Lucifer's birthdays but felt that the former angel was being too sensitive. Seeing God downplay Lucifer's lamentations was a golden moment.
1 "I Believe In Me. But Your Skepticism Is To Be Expected. I Did Include Free Will In The Kit."
As God, Chuck believes in himself and that's why he expects others to believe in him too. When Professor Donatello Redfield finally met Chuck, he confessed that he had been an atheist before. He then asked him if that was going to be a problem.
Chuck reassured him that everything was okay. After all, he gave humans the power of free will when he created them. He thus wasn't at fault to be skeptical about God's existence. After all, he had never seen him. Chuck hilariously claimed that he did believe in himself because he could see that he was indeed the Lord.
