White House chief of staff says new executive actions are in the works to prevent airline furloughs

As a condition of $25 billion in federal grant money disbursed in March, airlines had to agree to keep workers on the job through Sept. 30. But thousands of furloughs and layoffs are expected on Oct. 1.
