Valorant: 10 Things That Make No Sense About The Game

0

Valorant is Riot Games newest first-person shooter game that has made massive waves throughout the gaming community. The game started off in beta where only streamers on Twitch with access to the game could randomly distribute keys to their audiences. Eventually, the game fully released with a very fun cinematic. The game is still so new and obviously will have a ton more content and patches as time goes on.

Most of the topics on this list are more so nit-picky than anything else and Riot Games is already hard at work to correct some of the issues listed below. Many of the things that don't necessarily make sense about the game are things like the lore which just hasn't been yet explained or issues that Riot has already expressed they would fix. Valorant truly is a fun game and will be entertaining for any fan of the genre.

10 The Community

One of the things that probably makes the least sense in the game actually has nothing to do with the game itself. That is the community. Many Valorant players and fans of FPS games typically know that there are always games where someone on the team will be incredibly toxic. But in Valorant the toxicity seems to skyrocket. Maybe it is due to the newness of the game, but players rage to no end in this game, and with voice chat being one of its prime features, it is easy for toxic gamers to say some pretty harsh words to other players.

Stream snipping also seems to be a very common mishap in this game. Many streamers have complained that playing higher elo games becomes incredibly frustrating due to the fact that the enemy team always just "knows" where they're coming from and that it is probably due to their stream.

9 No Streamer Mode

That being said, another common complaint (which Riot has already said it will incorporate) is that there is no streamer mode. Sometimes popular streamers just want to queue up in the game anonymously and play with random people without stirring the pot.

Of course, the other players may be able to tell if it is a popular streamer by voice, but an extra layer of protection may help streamers from being bullied while playing the game. Valorant heavily revolves around communication with the player's team, so muting would just end up hurting the streamer as well.

8 "You Don't Kill With Abilities"

When Valorant was in beta and before its release, Riot announced that none of the abilities the characters can use could actually kill enemy team members. However, this has been proven time and time again to be false, especially when looking at Raze's ultimate.

What Riot should have maybe said instead, and what they attempted to imply with this statement, is that abilities are typically meant to zone the enemy team so that the players can take the right shots. A perfect example of this is Brimstone's ultimate, it lights up a radius and if the player doesn't escape it quick enough they could die, but it is intended to add pressure for the player to move out of it and into the line of sight for an enemy.

7 Matchmaking Queues

The matchmaking system seems to be a bit skewed due to the wide range between player MMRs that are acceptable during a match. For example, an immortal player might be able to play with or against a player ranked in platinum.

Because of the wide gap that Riot is trying to close, the queue times for higher elo games are exceptionally long. Parties with players of different ranks also are typically long as the game seems to try to figure out where best to place them.

6 Skewed Audio

Sometimes the audio in the game gets a bit confusing for players. Footsteps are loud and sometimes it becomes difficult to tell exactly which direction they are coming from and sometimes sound way closer than they actually are.

This becomes incredibly difficult considering the game heavily relies on sounds and knowing exactly where people are in order to hide or attack. The audio also sometimes isn't enough when the enemy goes to defuse on the spike as players can miss the sound if something else is going on.

5 Omen

Omen is one of the agents available to play in the game and is the most different. Valorant is set on earth in the near future where people, called Radiants, start gaining abilities or using radiant technology to become the agents we know (such as Killjoy or Cypher).

But Omen is a bit odd compared to the rest. He seems more like a cloudy figure than a human being like the rest of them. It could just be his hood, but the three glowing marks on his face raise some questions. Omen's voice is also unlike many of the other characters as it has this extra echoey layer to it making him seem not human. He is also the only character to have an unknown origin location.

4 The Store

Currently, the in-game store is meant exclusively for gun skins until Riot releases new skins for characters which is very likely to happen considering their numerous skins in League of Legends.

But something about the store doesn't really make sense, and that is the pricing. Valorant is a free to play game, sure. But the guns cost a ridiculous amount of money and don't incorporate a trading/selling system like Counter-Strike: Global Defense. For example, the Oni Knife that was recently sold in the Oni bundle costs $30 alone.

3 Gifting

This issue kind of goes hand in hand with the issues with the store. In League of Legends, arguably Riots most popular game, gifting skins to friends is pretty common.

Players can buy mystery skins and send them to their friends with no issues. Many fans want the same in Valorant. Because the gun skins are being paid for with real money, the idea of someone buying their friend a gun skin they want seems like it would make a lot of sense and maybe even give more money in the long run to Riot.

2 Agent Dynamics

Agent dynamics may not fully make sense, but Riot is sure to slowly release content explaining how the different characters know each other. Many of the characters have unique voice lines when other characters are in-game.

For example, Raze asks Brimstone if she could listen to her music, and Omen asks Sage some cryptic questions about how she revives people. The voice lines add for some extra fun in teams and have left a lot of players wondering what their dynamics of the different agents.

1 Lore

Again, this final issue will most likely be fixed by Riot when they eventually add more content and cinematics for the agents and game as a whole. Right now, there are only three maps in the game and no one really knows why there are players defending and attacking, and what the purpose of the spike's explosion is.

This isn't really a big issue, obviously, and doesn't affect the playstyle of the game, but many fans would like to know what's going on and what the in-game purpose of all of it is. Another interesting thing to know would be to find out how the characters got their powers.
