POLICE have been slammed for tweeting out footage of a murder suspect taking his own life after his death sparked violent unrest.

Minneapolis cops posted the disturbing CCTV of the black man shooting himself in the head apparently to prove that officers did not kill him – amid BLM protests across America.

Police have been blasted for posting the horrifying footage to prove they did not kill the unnamed black man

Sun Online has chosen not to show the moment the unnamed man took his own life outside a building where several young people were gathered in the downtown area of the city.

Police released the footage 90 minutes after the shooting yesterday, the Star Tribune reports.

But despite the CCTV showing that officers did not kill the man, protests still erupted which later led to looting and damage to property.

Social media users have blasted cops for sharing the “unnecessary” video branding their conduct “shameful.”

One wrote: “The segment showing him falling dead should have been blurred.”

Another tweeted: “There is ABSOLUTELY no reason why this should be shared. MPD delete this immediately.”

A third added: “I would ask that you take this down. This person has family that doesn’t need to see this. It would’ve been better to just report what happened instead of showing this very graphic video.”

The man who shot himself was allegedly being hunted for the murder of someone in a parking garage earlier Wednesday, it has been reported.

Minneapolis police spokesman John Elder says a male victim was found at around 2.10pm local time with a fatal gunshot wound in the parking ramp in downtown Minneapolis.

He says a man and woman left the area before cops arrived but that officers managed to detain the female for questioning.

According to police, officers believe that the three people knew each other and that the incident was not random, it has been reported.

Following the suicide, Black Lives Matter protestors gathered, at first peacefully, in the downtown area yesterday.

The demonstrations turned violent as night fell with looting and vandalism taking place, Fox9 reports.

Mayor Jacob Frey ha called in the Minnesota National Guard and issued a curfew, the Star Tribune reports.

He said: “This is a tragic incident for all involved. What the city needs now is healing, not more property destruction.”
