Daigo Higa hopes to fight twice more this year!
Earlier today the reliable and brilliant boxingnews.jp reported that former WBC Flyweight champion Daigo Higa (16-1, 16) [比嘉 大吾] is planning to fit in 2 fights before the end of 2020.
Although there is no set date for Higa's next bout the hope now appears to be for him to fight in October, and then return again in December.
The fighter has been training in as much as possible, though has been avoiding the gym as much as possible due to the on going situation. As a result this has seen him training in public parks, with a focus on physical training and mitt work.
We suspect the plan being put in to place for Higa is to have a comeback bout in October , in a lower level bout, before featuring on the same show as WBO Super Flyweight champion Kazuto Ioka (25-2, 14) [井岡一翔], with both men being stablemates at the Ambition Gym.
Interestingly Higa, who's training under the guidance of Joji Nogi, was also training with former stablemate Yoshimitsu Kimura (12-2, 7) [木村吉光], who is currently without a gym following the closure of the Shirai Gushiken Sports gym. It wouldn't be a surprise at all to see the talented Kimura joining Higa and Ioka at Ambition later in the year, as the gym looks to add to it's ranks and strengthen it's depth.
